Beware of warranties.
I want to warn buyers who are tempted to buy Hi-Fi equipment who are swayed by the inclusion of warranty years left. There are many sellers stating that the item has x years warranty left on the item, I purchased such an item only to discover that warranties only relate to original purchasers! I think E bay should not allow this to be written in the description of the item being sold.

Mentor7 months agoIf it was hi-fi you bought 27 February, then you are still within ebay 30 day MBG.
You can open item not as described case, seller provides returns label, you send back for full refund.
Escalate on day 4 if no label or refund.

Mentor7 months agoIf buyers would read eBay's user agreement, this actually warns them that eBay doesn't guarantee the truth of descriptions or the quality, safety or legality of items advertised here.
Additionally, as you have discoverd, even manufacturers' warranties are liable to be invalid for items bought here. Few eBay sellers are authorised distributors and items may be sourced from clearance outlets, seconds, customer returns or grey imports. Or, of course, be stolen or counterfeit.
It isn't just Hi-FI equipment that's affected. The item description for anything you buy on eBay - including any claimed warranty - may be untruthful. The the item may be of poor quality, unsafe or even illegal. Who would buy from a shop that stated this? Yet buyers seem happy to take the risk when buying on eBay.
Most don't even realise this because nobody seem to read the user agreement. If you want to warn buyers, just try to make them understand that buying from strangers on eBay isn't like buying from the shops. eBay is a jungle.
