Being given the runaround by Chinese seller

Hi all,
I bought an item that was NAD. After some back and forth seller said I could keep item and they would send a replacement. Coming from China, it would’ve taken me way out of the 30 day grace period to raise an issue so I asked for a refund to repurchase explaining that I would then have tracking of the new item and also have eBay’s protection. Seller said no need, assured me I would receive the item and to trust them 🚨
I opened a return case.
Seller now insists they can’t refund, I must return the item to China. No problem. Awaiting returns label or funds.
*They send a photo of a label which shows a shipping address in China but not a prepaid label.
*They insist I use this courier only as it’s the only one their finance dept allows. Even if they sent the funds or genuine label, the nearest drop off is 100+ miles away and they don’t collect from my area.
* I escalate to eBay, they extend return window to allow a label to be provided.
* I provide Royal Mail/parcelforce worldwide p&p details. They agree to send funds to PayPal. They say paid and send me ‘transaction confirmation’ with no I.D.
*No funds received. Escalated to eBay again. Contacted PayPal who confirmed no payment. Transcript sent to eBay. Return window further extended.
*seller insists payment made. Still no funds. EBay gave a further 2 days for seller to resolve before refunding me. 2 days later I receive an email saying they’ve given another 5 days. Sigh.
*Seller now giving a uk return address, showing that they’ve used Royal Mail website to calculate cost which is significantly cheaper of course.
That’s where I’m at now. Not really sure what I’m asking here. Maybe views on trusting this uk address that’s miraculously materialised now that they’ve seen paypal have confirmed no original funds sent?
Reassurance that my feelings are valid in that both the seller and EBay are actually giving me the runaround.
any similar experiences or advice on next steps please?
thanks for reading my novel haha.

Mentor4 months agoOnly proof of return to address from which it came will satisfy ebay. If return address was shown as China then that is where it must go.
Seller has been giving you a “run around”, I think all you can do is wait for ebay’s extended time to run out and keep escalating.
Lesson to learn, never buy items from China, unless actually situated in UK.
