Been scammed - Sold a new iPhone but IMEI blocked by O2 few wks later - E bay support wants me to go to police....
Summary: skyeskay purchased an iPhone on eBay, only to find that it was blocked by the provider, O2, due to IMEI issues. Despite contacting Apple and the seller, and raising a case with eBay, skyeskay felt unsupported as eBay suggested involving the police. **peaseblossom** advised trying to get a refund or chargeback through the payment provider, which skyeskay decided to pursue.
I bought a brand new iPhone 17 pro max on the eBay around in end of July and paid in full, around 6-8 wks later, the mobile did not work or showed any signal.
I later took to Apple support who identified IMEI been blocked and that was by O2 provider.
O2 fraud team conformed they have blocked but would not give further details due to data privacy. Contacted the seller, but no responses to my messages, Later opened a case on eBay - and they advice and opened a return window.
The seller never responded never the less. Contact eBay again today, and now they ask me to go to Police...
Feel I have waited long enough and despite being an eBay customer for many years, I feel unsupported. They could have advised me to go to police right away. I am stuck having paid lots of money - in full. :(
Any ideas to get a resolution to this scam by the seller. Thanks.

Mentor3 weeks agoWhile you can open a case for item not as described more than 30 days after receipt, you can't get ebay involved if the seller won't help. It's not a question of ebay letting you down, they provide a 30 day money back guarantee and that's it.

Mentor3 weeks agoI take it the ebay case has timed out or was too late to start with (they only allow 30 days). You still have time to try for a refund or chargeback from your payment provider so contact them in the morning. Good luck.
