Banned Account Help
Summary: tcg.freedom_2 expressed frustration over their husband's eBay account being banned without explanation, noting the difficulty in contacting eBay support to resolve the issue and access funds. john1297576 and tobiasd4 advised caution, warning that attempting to resolve the matter might result in the linking and potential banning of their own account. *vyolla* suggested that requesting personal data from eBay might help identify the problem and advised against contacting them directly to avoid further issues with linked accounts.
Hi All, my husbands account was just banned out of nowhere, we don't know why and ebay apparently cut off all means of actually talking to someone at their company so you can find out what happened. He has been selling on the account for over a year know with zero issues and many satisfied customers. So we just don't understand why this has happened and its a massive inconvenience. What's more annoying is we have a lot of money sitting on the account from recent sales and he is now locked out of that money. Does anyone know what to do in this situation, I am afraid of talkig to them on the phone about another account encase they just blanked ban me as well.

Mentor3 weeks agoJust a warning.
Ebay will link your account to your husbands and can ban you as well.
They do this to stop him using your account to get round ban.
So ne needs to sort issue.

OP3 weeks agoI understand I don't expect you know why it was banned. He has been selling on it for over a year with lots of sales and positive feedback, so we don't understand why it has happened. Ebay unfortunately only allow him to email them and you just get a basic response. They cut off the ability to use the chat services and get put through to an ebay representative. Its shocking customer services if I am honest, even if they believe he did something wrong unknowing, not explaining or allowing some form of communication is terrible.
I am just trying to understand if there are any options for trying to resolve the matter, if someone has had this happen before out of the blue with no apparent reason. Will it cause issues for me if I contact them in order for him to be able to talk to an ebay representative?

Mentor3 weeks ago · EditedYes, it will cause issues because eBay usually ban any linked accounts i.e. same household, so you'd be potentially jeopardising your account.
Payments may be held for up to 180 days.
Was he selling his own personal items on his private account or trading as a business (buying items to re-sell) on a private account?
Suggest he requests personal data information, he may be able to see from that what the problem is.

Mentor3 weeks ago · EditedWe are members like you, we know no more than you do. One thing is if you are able to contact ebay they will only speak to the account owner.
