Authentication of Watch
Hi. hope someone can help
Ive sold a watch for a large some of money but I'm expected to send via special delivery (which only covers £750 to the authenticator) before I receive my funds.
Is this right?

Mentor2 months agoYour buyer has paid for the postage label, you have postage on your listing.
Only FedEx or DHL with extra insurance will cover that watch though.

This is paid by buyer at checkout under P&P.

I think most of us are too gobsmacked to say anything.
New sellers selling very expensive items on eBay are always liable to be the target of criminals.
The risks don't stop when you have resolved the insurance issue. Because buyers now pay eBay, not the seller, you don't even know how they have paid. The authentication scheme may protect you against misuse of eBay's money back guarantee, but Credit or debit card chargebacks are an ever-present risk, even months after the sale date. Because buyers pay eBay any chargebacks are also issued against eBay. The seller is not even a party to the chargeback. You would be entirely in eBay's hands whether to accept it. If they do, you would be liable to reimburse them for the full payment you received - and to pay their fee for administering this. Plus there's no certainty that you would even get the watch bock.
I am certainly not recommending you to cancel the item, but have to say that in your position this is what I would do, and accept the account defect that you would receive from eBay.
