Aren't products bought on Ebay subject to normal UK guarantee/warrentee law ?
I bought a home water pressure booster pump and fitted it in Jan 2026. I only switched it on for a few minutes a day to help fill a cold water tank. But it's already packed up...won't respond/work. I've checked the usual/obvious things - mains power supply, water supply etc. I contacted the seller (in Tamworth - just a few miles from me) and he's saying he won't replace the pump or refund the price. The purchase is obviously outside of Ebay's 30days period...but surely any item bought in the UK is subject to normal warentee/guarantee terms and laws ? The pump has failed after only 7 weeks of very light use so surely I should be entitled to a refund or a replacement ?

Mentor5 months agoIf you bought it in January this year and you funded the payment with a debit or credit card you're still in time (120 days) to issue a not as described chargeback via your card provider and get a refund.

However, you have to pursue your rights with the seller. Contact them again.

OP5 months agoMany thanks for your reply. Do you happen to know what law or regulation I
can quote to the Tamworth seller just to nudge him to take my claim
seriously ?
Thanks again.
