are you paying to advertise on ebay???
I have been on ebay for well over a decade. I do not and I have never paid to be seen anywhere on ebay or outside of ebay. I pay more than enough to be on ebay. I have seen a number o.f possibly private, sellers recently bemoaning the lack of views they are gaining despite paying for additional advertising - which would seem to justify my stance. I sell on ebay, I pay ebay to sell on ebay, ebay takes a chunk of my selling fee for my items on ebay . . . it is in the interest of ebay to advertise my items, why would I pay more for them to advertise my product which is actually their product in terms of revenue. If I have to pay to be on ebay - and then pay to be more visible and then pay for anything I sell why would I even consider being on ebay? Surely what I am paying in fees etc. should be covering placement on ebay . . . though you must as a business seller consider the effects of the placements of automated relisting (which you cannot opt out of unlike on etsy), these do not always show up as new listings and are often automatically downgraded and so show up lower in new listing searches. Ebay may be revelling in the "uptick" in revenue from promoted listings, but if you are in any specialist or specific listing category, you will be more than aware that too many of those promoted items are not specialist or specific, they are cheap, generic, poorly, mistakenly or deliberately misguided desriptions of misrepresented, other, cheaper, pseudo or fake items. Ebay is pushing AI - well it is all so cool at the moment but ebay has a number of basic issues to resolve before it pushes forward, not least combined shipping (currently in chaos if you accept offers), and reliability and real products, from real people: not fake junk with deep pockets in categories outside of cheap drop shipping products (so not vintage then!).
