Anyone else frustrated with buyers not paying?
Summary: stephen220202 expresses frustration with buyers on eBay who fail to pay after winning an item, leading to prolonged selling times. They suggest reducing the waiting period for cancellation and propose an automated cancellation of a buyer's current bids upon non-payment. papso22 mentions the limitations of eBay's current system, noting that two non-payment cancellations within 12 months can affect a buyer's ability to purchase from certain sellers. tommystrezures advises against sending payment reminders before the 4-day deadline, as this restarts the waiting period, and shares that local auction houses employ a similar waiting period and penalty system.
It seems like there are no longer any ‘real’ consequences when a buyer doesn’t pay and just ignores you until you cancel? For a start having an item on auction for 7 days and then having to wait 4 days to cancel just means a relist takes an item to 18 days to sell (and that’s if it doesn’t happen again)
Personally I think 2 days is plenty of time for someone that had the time to bid on the item, and I also think eBay should consider an automated ‘cancel any current bid’ by the buyer once a ‘did not pay’ cancellation goes through if they have ignored 4 days of chasing payment… it happens far to often considering a bid is a contract.

Mentor3 months agoFour days is fine, and never chase or keep sending payment reminders, ebay does that and everytime you do this it refreshes the 4 day rule. Wait patiently hit them with the buyer did not pay so the buyers account gets the sanction.
As an aside our local auction house allows 5 days (unless previous arrangements have been made) then they also go on a 'blacklist' (not the tv programme) which affects them nationally.

Mentor3 months agoMany are frustrated but can only use the tools ebay has chosen to provide. Two non-payment cancellations in a 12 month period will stop these 'buyers' from buying from sellers with stringent buyer blocks set up. That's it as far as sanctions go.
