Did you mean that you sold this bag over a year ago, or have listed it continually for over a year and it has now sold?
Who told you that it may be countereit? If it was sold over a year ago I doubt whether eBay or the brand owner would still have any interest. If it sold recently, are you saying that the buyer has opened a case claiming it is counterfeit? Or that the item has been reported as counterfeit?
If reported, eBay tends to describe all reports for brand name infringement as "conterfeit". It may be more complex. For example, some brands have registered a right to restrict sales to authorised distributors only. Somewhere in eBay's VeRO guidance there is a link to view exactly what rights a particular brand owner has registered with eBay. This may help to explain why yours was reported.

OP6 months agohi, I puchased this bag in April 24 from ebay and it was authenticated as being a designer bag.
I was not sure if I like the colour so after a year decided to list it myself. Now all of a sudden it has been taken down by ebay as being a counterfeit! How can this be correct?
thanks for your time.

Mentor6 months ago“fake” usually means the brand owner has asked for removal.
Brand owners can register for VERO https://www.ebay.co.uk/help/policies/listing-policies/intellectual-property-policy?id=4349&st=3&pos=1&query=Intellectual%20property%20policy&intent=vero&lucenceai=lucenceai&docId=HELP1276
