An error number '5011' occurred while processing the request. (5011)
Summary: sars-4486 reported an issue with the inability to place bids on an auction site, receiving an error message "5011" across multiple devices and browsers. Despite trying various fixes like clearing cache and disabling plugins, the problem persists. fargvs suggested checking for a Canon printer error, which sars-4486 dismissed as the error appears server-side. kat@ebay from the support team requested more details to log the issue with tech support, and encouraged sars-4486 to check for possible workarounds shared by other users.
Any help with the following would be great:
I am unable to bid on any item. Entering a bid amount and clicking the bid confirmation button results in the following error:
"An error number '5011' occurred while processing the request. (5011)"
This is not a transient issue, it affects all bids at any and every attempt.
It is present on Brave and Mozilla Firefox and various mobile browsers.
Clearing Cache, Data and Cookies does not help.
Disabling plugins, script blockers, anti-tracking etc. does not help.
The issue affects bidding on PC and android devices.
My internet connection is stable and fast (>1Gbit).
I've lost out on multiple bids at auction now and am only able to complete 'buy it now' listings.
Ebay's AI bot is unhelpful and there doesn't seem to be any way to actually contact Ebay customer service.

Mentor1 month agoThought --- Do you have a Canon printer linked/connected ?. I ask because that is a known printer error message when awaiting action on incomplete spooled requests. Just a thought.

OP1 month agoThank you for the reply and suggestion.
I don't own a Canon printer and no printer whatsoever is installed or connected on some of the devices tested.
The error is displayed on the website within the bidding dialog box and I suspect it is being generated as server side response to the form submission.
I have seen another member suggesting modifying the URL to ebay.com from ebay.co.uk, which I have yet to try (if I even want to use Ebay's bidding process again).
As a basic function of an auction site, this is poor service and I hope they remedy it very soon. It would be nice if they acknowledged the error too with a 'working on it' type statement.
Thanks again for the suggestion.

Hi @sars-4486 ,
Thanks for coming back and for providing the details. I'll get those included with the report to tech. In the meantime some other users have mentioned workarounds in their posts about this here.
Thank you,
