Age verification

I am 64 years old.
I have used ebay for more than 18 years and purchased hundreds of items without a problem.
Today I went to purchase a Rough File Leather Tool which is a small file for roughing a leather surface before glueing.
I am informed by ebay that I need age verification as these are classed as bladed items.
Fair enough, I went to age verification and it told me I needed to give details of my 'credit card' to verify my age.
I don't own a credit card.
Apparently my debit card is no good for this purpose and there is no other way of proving my age!
I am a professional crafts person working in leather, wood and fabric.
I buy 80% of my tools through ebay, (most of these are potentially 'bladed items as one would expect).
This effectively means that I am banned from using ebay at the ripe old age of 64!
Has anyone else encountered this stupidness?

Mentor3 weeks agoBy law, where ever buying bladed items, you have to prove you are 18+.
Ebay choose to only accept credit card as proof.
Ask a friend with CC to buy for you or use local shop where they can see you.

I do not have friends with CC and to be honest 'use a local shop where they can see you' is a totally absurd suggestion!!!
They don't sell the items I need in my local Sainsbury's otherwise I wouldn't bother using ebay!!!
