Advice needed on return where buyer is delaying shipment and citing installation issues
Summary: good24be is seeking advice on handling a return situation where the buyer is delaying the shipment back to them, citing issues related to installation. The responses from **peaseblossom** and tobiasd4 did not provide any specific suggestions or content.
Hi everyone,
I’m looking for some guidance on a return case I currently have open.
I sold a Botslab G980H 4-channel dash cam system (360° model with GPS). The buyer opened a return request within the return period claiming the device had WiFi connectivity issues and lag.
I accepted the return request and provided a prepaid return label on 16 April as per eBay process.
However, since then:
No tracking has been uploaded yet
The buyer has not shipped the item within the return timeframe
Instead, I have received repeated messages stating the device is “not working properly” and also that the unit is “difficult to remove from the windscreen due to adhesive/stickers”
The return deadline is 1 May.
I have already instructed the buyer to return the item using the provided label, but they continue to raise installation-related issues rather than dispatching the item.
My concern is:
What happens if the buyer does not return the item before the deadline?
How does eBay handle cases where return is approved but the buyer delays shipment or cites installation difficulty?
Am I protected as long as I followed the return process and provided the label?
Any advice from sellers who have experienced similar situations would be appreciated.
Thanks in advance.

Mentor3 months agoIf buyer does not return item within time ebay give them, case will time out in your favour.
Do not message or reply to buyer anymore, you have done everything correctly.

Mentor3 months agoIf the buyer does not return the item the return case will expire eventually. It can take a while but it's best to just leave it and not involve ebay.
