Today I received an email and a message on eBay saying that my account needs a verification they have given me link to verify the account, it didn’t allowed me to select the option of identify with documents so I continued with payment data . Can someone let me know if this is secure and I will get my money back?

This looks like a possible scam to me, there are many doing the rounds at the moment.
Can you post a screenshot here of the avatar and sender of the eBay message please?

·6 months agoLooking at the screenshot, that is definitely not from Ebay. (The message even uses 'Ebay' with a capital E which is incorrect.)
Did they then ask you to confirm your bank balance? Again, not from Ebay.
If you provided any details in response to that message, you should take steps to make sure your bank account and payment cards are secure. If your bank has a security department, contact them and explain what you have done and that your account might be susceptible to a hack.

·6 months agoReally, even if you report the account, it will just be closed down and they will open another one.
However, I will tag the Community Team into this post as there are a lot of posts like yours at the moment where scammers are sending phishing emails to new sellers saying they need to 'verify' their accounts and asking for banking details.
Maybe Ebay could issue a general warning?

Clicking on a link to take you outside of eBay to do verification on a chat would be suspicious activity. As the funds didn't come to eBay they wouldn't have any control of getting them back. If you haven't already please report it with your bank and they can follow the correct procedure on their side.
I'll have the user account reported on the eBay side so that any necessary action can be taken.

If you wish to continue selling all new items , as explained , the account you are using is for selling used items, such as a garage / wardrobe/ attic clear out.
This shows you how to be correctly registered.
Probably best to use a PC / laptop for this, and not the app or mobile browser. Chrome seems to work best on eBay.

Mentor6 months agoThere are a number of fake verification messages going around and this may well be one of them. I have never heard of ebay asking for balance information. You would need to ask customer services if ebay actually sent these. If there was an email to your ebay address as well as a message in your ebay messages they may be genuine as only ebay would have your email.
What money did you give them?
Had you already registered fully for managed payments?
Also, when you buy goods to sell, ebay requires you to have an ebay business account in order to comply with various laws. You have a private account which is for selling unwanted personal possessions.

Are you saying you have bought something from an ebay seller for £394.41? If so, what has that got to do with the account verification you posted about before?
