Abuse of buyer protection policy
A buyer claimed that a dress had a stain on the front and wanted to return it. I assumed that I missed the stain so refunded once it had been returned. I and other members of my family checked the dress and could find no stain. She has been repored to ebay for abusing the buyer protection policy.
The dress was previously worn by me, dry cleaned and placed in a suit carrier. When it was listed it was measured all over for the listing, checked for any issues (which I knew there weren't as it had only been worn once).
What could I have done to avoid this?

Mentor7 months agoThere is nothing to avoid this happening in the future, as dishonest buyers know the rules, and for a remorse buy can claim the item not as described where they know the seller Has to receive the item back and pay for its tracked return, this is all part and parcel of eBay's MBG, Money Back Guarantee policy.
Do not mistake this for Buyer Protection which is totally different. This is paid for by the buyer to fund service improvements, including 24/7 support and enhanced fraud detection.
All you can do after this has happened is to report the buyer as you have done, for abusing eBay's MBG. Some have a pattern of doing this, so when flagged up and eBay see this, they may well remove the buyer from their platform.
