A seller
I want to make other buyers aware of a serious issue I’ve experienced with eBay, PayPal, and a seller. Although the seller appears to be UK‑based, the item I purchased was actually shipped from China. eBay allows sellers to present themselves as UK‑based—even when they are not—and their “UK only” search filter does not guarantee that the product is being sold or dispatched from within the UK.
Another problem is that before completing a purchase, eBay does not allow buyers to see the seller’s actual business address. In my case, I only discovered after the purchase that the item originated in China. After 30 days, both eBay and PayPal refused to take responsibility and would not provide the UK business address shown in the listing.
I later learned that business sellers like him are legally required to publish their contact information due to the volume of items they sell—yet this was not visible or enforced on eBay. This points to a larger issue with how eBay manages business accounts and protects customers.
In my opinion, eBay should clearly alert customers when an item is being sold or shipped from outside the selected region. Their search filters should be tied to real geolocation, not vague or misleading seller labels. Sellers operating in the UK market should also be required to comply with local commerce laws, which hasn’t happened in this case.

Mentor6 months agoIf you check sellers location, shown on their feedback page & listings, they are based in china.
They say they post items from Dunstable, this is allowed as some Chinese sellers do have UK warehouse.
Their address on listing is this.

OP6 months agoThanks . It still doesn’t address the issue. A Chinese business can pose as a uk agent and not publish any contact details so their published warranty commitment can be realised. Electrical Items sold in the UK are given an automatic 1 year warranty This guarantee is also published in the advert. However warranty is not respected because there is nowhere to go within region and the manufacturer in china is ignoring my request.

If it was a business seller, contact information should be on bottom left of all listings, but because of all the other ads. put on this can be invisible, but I am sure will not be blank.
