A NOT as described in listing report..
Summary: bugsbayuk reported an issue with an eBay listing, feeling that eBay protects sellers even when items do not match their descriptions. Despite attempts to appeal and seek a refund for a mislabeled product, bugsbayuk feels frustrated by eBay's responses and questions the ability to report breaches effectively. Other participants, like *vyolla*, suggest using eBay's return process for refunds, while red_magpie highlights challenges buyers face on the platform. There is ongoing discussion about eBay's policy enforcement and the effectiveness of AI in resolving disputes.

Neither the appeal link works, nor the internal appeals. Ebay protecting scammers ??
Take a look at the product received. NOT gold metalised, no heel pad, attachment lugs not holed.

OP1 week agoText bots cannot see photos and cannot assess an obvious fraud.
As they locked this thread and but then posted their comments, then ordinary peeps cannot reply. We are unable to contact the member to member community that is promised in the link to get here. So msg me if you need to reply. I do not consider the stated "answer" to be correct, it was foisted on me, without my permssion or even notification.

Mentor1 week agoThe reason thread is locked is because only OP (you) and mentors can reply, not other ebay members.
No point reporting listing,as advised several times, open item not as described case.
bugsbayuk
OP1 week ago · EditedAS already stated, this post was the "not as described" case conclusion.
Why keep posting the same reply ??
Why NOT let MEMBERS reply ??
Why LOCK this thread immediately after I posted the QUESTION to MEMBERS ?? and then immediately post a reply (as only AI bot mentors can) then mark it up as answered, when NOT answered to my satisfaction ??
Peeps reading the other MEMBER to MEMBER questions/queries here can see this same pattern. FYI, just take a look peeps.
EDIT after answer just changed: PLEASE STOP silently editing your post so as to pretend you got it right in the first place.
READ the 1st part of this post here.

Mentor3 weeks agoIf you've received an item that doesn't match the description or photos you need to open an eBay return to get a full refund. The seller pays for the return postage label.

OP3 weeks agoThank you for your reply AI bot.
But, I really am sick of Ebay now. And I'm aware of all the tricks (reading here) that can be played by scammers out there. So I will not be asking for a refund (I already did this, for non-supply and Ebay have NOT actioned that, and now I would guess NEVER will).
Ebay should NOT be using AI BOTS here on a member to member forum, as they do not count as MEMBERS !
STIL no Ebay response. I am thinking of selling some chalk crayons I got as cheese. Have a brand new Rolls Royce available too, it may look like a 2CV, but I'm sure Ebay will allow me to submit a 2CV photo, so the blind Ebayers and Ebay Agents will be unable to tell the difference. Its all in the fine print, sdomething that was outlawed by the "Sales of Goods ACt" in the 1970's and under (deceptive) trades descriptions laws. Not that that bothers Ebay.
Should I report Ebay to my trading standards office?

Mentor3 weeks agoNo mentors are AI bots.

Mentor3 weeks agoNo idea why you'd assume that you're speaking with AI here. You've come here with a clear item not as described situation and it would be easy for you to return the item for a full refund. If you don't want to then that's your call and absolutely fine. I'm not quite clear what it is you're asking about here if not an item that you've received that isn't as described.
It's pretty impossible for buyers to lose out on eBay: Buyers have 30 days to return an item that's not as described via eBay’s Money Back Guarantee/Buyer Protection, same for PayPal.
If the item was paid for with a debit/credit card or Apple Pay buyers have 120 days to issue a not as described chargeback.
eBay is a selling platform, so it wouldn't be eBay you'd report to Trading Standards, it would be your seller if they've broken some kind of consumer reg and are a UK registered business seller.

OP3 weeks ago · EditedAgain, you quote the HELP for your defence of Ebay.
If Ebay was facilitating SCAMMERS then Ebay WOULD be the ones to report as co-conspirators.
When, in ANY, of your post here did you actually ACT to protect a customer, other than quoting the HELP and AI bounded replies?
Given the PHOTGRAPHIC evidence here, HOW does a HUMAN Ebay Agent (ALREADY) conclude that there has been NO contravention of the listings description?

Mentor3 weeks agoYou reported a listing, it came back with a decision that it didn't violate eBay policy. You didn't need to report the listing, it was never going to show up a policy breach, you needed to do as explained and get a full refund because the item didn't match the description. Simple. You just unfortunately took the wrong route. Still, you'll know how to handle an item not as described return next time it happens.

OP1 week agoIf I understand what you nare saying, then you are saying there's "it was NEVER going to show a policy breach" ?? WHY, whats the point of getting members to report "listings" if EBAY are NEVER going to find a breach"??
What you're saying is IF I list a vintage ROLLS ROYCE car on EBAY, including PHOTO(s) and supply a 2CV then inspite of a buyer submitting PHOTOGRAPHIC evidence that that it was a 2CV to EBAY as a "breach" on the listing, then EBAY will find in favour of the seller (me).
So what you are saying is there's NO point ANYONE reporting a lisitng as a BREACH..
Sounds like AI bot logic to me.
It's very worrying that such a conclusion could be reached by EBAY (AI bot??) itself. So ALL this customer services & nelp stuff is just for show. There's no REAL intention to give customer's service or Help.

Mentor1 week ago · EditedAgain, if you've bought an item that's not as described then use eBay's return process to get a full refund.
As you've discovered, reporting a listing under these circumstances will get you nowhere, eBay is a selling platform and sellers are responsible for their listing content, eBay supplies the means to get a full refund within 30 days if they're not compliant. Anyone can report a listing - a competitor, somebody with an agenda - anyone - so eBay are not going to take notice of a report unless there's a clear policy breach. In this there isn't. You have an issue with a purchase, return it.
In the example you've provided:
What you're saying is IF I list a vintage ROLLS ROYCE car on EBAY, including PHOTO(s) and supply a 2CV then inspite of a buyer submitting PHOTOGRAPHIC evidence that that it was a 2CV to EBAY as a "breach" on the listing, then EBAY will find in favour of the seller (me).
Lets assume that its a model car because vehicles are something that the buyer collects themselves so they wouldn't hand over payment before viewing; if the buyer opens a return because the item they've received doesn't match the description or photos they will get a full refund. If they just choose to report the listing then neither AI or a human will see a policy breach for a listing for a Rolls Royce. They'll see an issue when a not as described return is opened.

Mentor3 weeks ago · EditedYou wouldn't be so shocked and surprised if you realised that eBay warns buyers in the user agreement that they don't guarantee the quality of items sold here, that sellers' descriptions will be truthful or that items will be safe or even legal. Who would buy from a shop that stated this?
If that wasn't bad enough, eBay allows sellers to copy and use any other seller's photos and descriptions, so there's no guarantee that the item for sale is even the one shown in the photo - which yours certainly wasn't! Or items may not even exist - eBay don't guarantee this either plenty of buyers have lost thousands of pounds for non-existent motor vehicles.)
In fairness, eBay does provide it's own money back guarantee for most items if they are not delivered or are not as described, and will almost always take the buyer's word for faults. However, this only last for 30 days. (With items like phones this can mean that buyers sometimes don't discover that their item is stolen or counterfeit fake until after the guarantee has expired.)
The problem is that even normally cautious and responsible buyers have often never read eBay's user agreement and don't realise that buying from strangers here is massively different from buying from the shops. eBay is a jungle.

OP3 weeks agoYou can still see the staple from the label, they detached, from the store they just bought it from.

Mentor3 weeks ago · EditedAll I can say is that it is buyers like you who allow scammers to get away with it.
What ever do you think ebay offers a 30 day money back guarantee for, that is the way to get a refund, you do not report to ebay when they provide a perfectly good way to get a refund.
Far from being a scammer this can prove expensive for the seller, with real scams it is the buyer who loses money

OP3 weeks ago · EditedYES BLAME ME, if all else fails, lol. AMAZING how you care so much.
I ALREADY tried to get a refund for FAILED delivery (as well as abuse of Ebay tracking) - still open, being "worked on" by Ebay (not!), but the supplier was allowed to drag out the supply, went down a store bought a cheap mat (probably a set of 4 for £20) and sent one of them to me 11 days later!
You should read on here, the number of Ebayers who have not got their money back or who (sellers) had to fork out twice for a refund and another refund! Many people are having their honest truthful and safe NEGATIVE feedback DELETED without explanation and ability to give any further feedback. Look out for the scammers where people have given -ve and then said it was a great buy, lol or who have said they can't be bothered, wasted their time and money!
bugsbayuk
OP3 weeks ago · EditedANYONE recognise the store where that mat is from (set of 4??) ?
