£50 coupon not honoured

I earned a £50 promotional coupon by selling an item.
I only made the purchase because of that promotion.
Before returning the faulty item, I specifically asked eBay whether the coupon would be restored.
Customer service assured me multiple times in text and phone calls that it would be, including last week.
Today, I was told the opposite.
I'm asking whether a moderator can review the contradictory advice and honour what I was promised.

Mentor1 month agoAny coupons or promotional codes are good for a one off use, and if a purchase is returned or cancelled then the coupon/code is no longer available and can't be used again for another purchase.

OP1 month agoThat's what I thought and asked. Given that (a) the coupon was provided in exchange for a sale and (b) I have eBay chats and phone calls of people telling me before and after the refund that the coupon would be honoured, and how, I'm trying to get it looked at as an exceptional case.

Mentor1 month agoIf you've a chat transcript in which an eBay CS rep has stated that the coupon will be reinstated/honoured then you may need to contact eBay via their bricks and mortar address (on the front page of their user agreement) with copies, that would be my route if you're getting contradictory advice.
Or, before that, contact eBay again and remind them that you have chat transcripts confirming you'll get your code reinstated and ask how you can escalate this.
