      Prescription glasses and sunglasses

I posted some prescription glasses and sunglasses on Ebay, but my posting has been removed by Ebay. I didn't realise this was a prohibited item, but I can see that there are plenty of other people selling prescription glasses (secondhand). Any advice please? I have the option of appealing to Ebay, but I'm not sure whether this is worth it. How are other people able to post?

Buyer wants me to cancel order, but then says item posted

Bought and paid for an item, then the seller sent a message saying that they could not deliver to my location - this is odd as I live in a suburb of a large city and have had over 2000 deliveries from ebay. All the delivery services deliver to my address. They then said I should cancel my order. I suggested as it was they who were cancelling, they should cancel and trigger an automatic refund. They did not want to do this. Then they said the item had been posted, but untracked. I guess there is no way to avoid just waiting for non-delivery (which I strongly believe they are banking on so as to avoid them cancelling) I know I will eventually get a refund, but is there any reason the seller would be so reluctant to cancel an order and prefer the buyer to cancel?

eBay refusing refund on two “Item Not Delivered” cases despite clear GPS/photo evidence and Evri admitting the parcels were misplaced

Hi everyone, I’m hoping someone here can offer some advice. I’m a long-term eBay customer of 13 years with a flawless record until the second half of 2025, when problems with the Evri courier began appearing. I currently have two separate issues with items that were never delivered to my address: First item: I have photo evidence with GPS location showing the delivery was made to a completely different address that does not match my door or property. Second item: The photo evidence from Evri shows delivery through a completely different letterbox. The seller had explicitly stated that the item cannot fit through a letterbox. The packaging in the photo is also different, and the seller has confirmed in writing that it is 100% not the item he sent. I forwarded all of the evidence to eBay as part of an “Item Not Delivered” claim, including: Clear photos with GPS data Communication with the seller Email confirmation from Evri admitting they had misplaced the parcels and promising to resolve the issue Despite this strong evidence, eBay has refused to refund me in both cases. They are simply stating that the items show as “delivered” according to the courier tracking. This is extremely frustrating, especially as a long-standing customer. Has anyone else experienced similar issues with Evri deliveries where eBay sided with the tracking information even when there was clear proof the item wasn’t delivered to the correct address? Any advice on the best next steps would be greatly appreciated. Thank you in advance.

Navigating In-Person Item Viewings: Should Sellers Allow It?

Selling items online often brings unique challenges, especially when potential buyers request to view an item in person before making a purchase decision. Given the diverse opinions and rules related to providing personal information, such as an address, for viewings, I'd love to hear your thoughts. Have you experienced this scenario as a seller or buyer? How did you handle it, and what was the outcome? Additionally, what strategies do you recommend while ensuring safety and complying with platform guidelines? Can these in-person viewings coexist with e-commerce's digital nature, or do they undermine the core business model of platforms like eBay? Your experiences, advice, or even anecdotes could help someone facing this dilemma. Let's discuss!

Bid history was NOT what I bid so I lost the auction

I am a casual buyer/seller and never bid at auctions so this was a first. I entered a bid at the opening bid price of £16.59. I was the winning bidder until the last minute but lost. When I look at the bidding history there were only 2 bids. The winning bid was £16.59 and the history shows my bid was £15. That is NOT what I bid. Could someone explain what happened to MY opening bid? Thank you.

      Am I liable to pay?

I bought an item on eBay from a private seller which was never arriving therefore I contacted eBay to resolve it. Because the seller couldn’t provide tracking, I as the buyer was refunded in total. Now the seller informed me that my item is on route and I should pay them. I responded by saying that I haven’t received anything therefore I will not pay. My question is, if I do eventually receive the item, do I then pay the private seller or leave it since eBay initially resolved the issue for me?? Is the seller out of pocket?? Am I liable to pay?

Seller simply not shipping and extending delivery date. Refuses to cancel.

How difficult is it to drop a flannel shirt in the post? I bought one on the 18th of June, second-hand. By the 23rd the shirt was still awaiting shipment. This is a business, btw. I emailed requesting to cancel as the reason I bought the shirt was to wear it on a trip to the highlands to fend off the midges! The seller reponded asking when I would like the shirt by? I said the 25th and explained why. Today I received notice that the cancellation has been refused and eBay is saying that the item may still be on its way to me and I cannot say I haven’t received it even though the item is still “awaiting dispatch”. The delivery timeframe has been extended until June 4th. What a load of bunkum for a second-hand shirt! The seller has form and has done this before, I can see from their feedback. Surely EBay does not want to countenance such seller behaviour? There must be a way to get my money back from such a seller without chasing it for a month or more. I had a similar incident once before with someone selling plants she hadn’t even started growing yet. Eventually she relented a gave a refund, but EBay needs to do something about this. There should be a timeframe for posting unless parties grew to waive it.

      postage concerns

I am the Seller and the correct postage was paid to send a package (large letter up to 100gms.)but still royal mail imposed a fine and left a card with the buyer which was £1.50 fine. Royal Mail.com/feetopay website denied access. Someone from the ebay community did tell me they tried to pay a fine of £1.50 on a royal mail site but when they tried to click to pay, the amount changed from £1.50 to £8.01 Does anyone know what is going on here. Has anyone had a similar experience? Please let me know, Ross
