SCAM ALERT

I just got scammed by this advert. Maybe im being dumb but cant see an obvious way to report this but just putting this out here - watch out for this vehicle advert!

Yep agreed - I fell for a deposit scam and paid some of it up front to secure it before anyone else got there. It was such a good deal (obviously too good to be true) and he said someone was already coming to get it next week and is putting a deposit down tomorrow - I said fair enough, but if that guy changes his mind I would be interested. I hung up...but then on the off chance phoned him back to see if I could beat the other guy to the punch and pay sooner. I played right into his hands - as he wasnt even being pushy...but he obviously took advantage of my depseration. Spoke and texted the guy a number of times, even after paying deposit, seemed like a genuine guy (obviously). Thinking back I fell for some psychological tricks and he was very good at playing the part. I even checked a number of things about the vehicle and his business etc, his address, which now of course I understand are all fake and part of the scam process as it lures you in to believing its all genuine. By the time I went to meet him he wasnt responding to calls or texts and at that moment i knew what i'd done. I feel terrible for falling for it and want to kick myself in the face.

Lesson learned - unfortunately it was an expensive lesson.

I never understood how people fall for this stuff...but now I know. Remember if its too good to be true...it probably is!

Just hope my bank can claw the money back but could be too late already :(

How did you get scammed?

Paying for vehicles in full ,must only be done on full inspection on collection of the vehicle and associated paperwork, payment only in cash or bank transfer.

What happened in your case?
