Hi Everyone,
Me and the seller agreed on a partial refund instead of returning the part... because I no longer have the old part to fit back to my car and the part I have ordered is faulty. Anyways, seller doesn't have a return option available. How can I request the refund then?

·Aug 12, 2026 at 5:29 PMIt’s irrelevant what it says on the listing. For private sellers that only applies to change of mind returns.
However if the seller has said they will give you a partial refund, you don’t need to open a return, they can just do that. But you are relying on them to actually do it.
It may still be safer to open a return request. There you’d need to go to your order history and open an item not as described case.
The seller then needs to supply a return label.

That being said, they are a private seller who is selling multiple units of new goods. That would indicate they may be trading illegally, and I’d suggest they are playing you along until you are out of time.
You do need to open an item not as described case. Good news is if it was entered simple delivery then eBay will step in and you’ll get a full refund. It might be the last estimated delivery date hasn’t passed yet. In which case you need to wait for that.
One last check it is within 30 days of the item being delivered isn’t it??

It is possible the seller knows this. Advise them that you are outside the 30 days return window. But it might be possible they can’t action a refund of any kind after this time.
Depending on how you paid you may be able to open a claim with your payment provider.
Unfortunately as you didn’t buy from a business you don’t have further rights.
