Charity account
Hi,
I’ve been trying for ages to set up a charity account for a small charity I volunteer for but eBay keep asking for more and more details. They want name, addresses, dob and NI numbers of the directors and some objected strongly to this. I actually managed to speak to someone a
from customer service who told me they only need the NI number of whoever is willing to disclose it, 1 director is enough. That should be easier but now I was asked to provide evidence of the Non profit status. I uploaded the governing documents but got an error message “something went wrong, please try later”
The latest email says: “you are all set up” but I have no idea if that is the case or not. I haven’t actually tried to sell anything yet and I’m wondering if it’s really worth the effort.
Anyone else had similar issues? Thank you

·11 months agoThey were asking for the details of the charity directors under KYC requirements, to check for things like money laundering etc. The directors may have objected - but I tell you now - it won't be the last time they get this request. They want to be the director of a charity - this is one of the drawbacks.
They were in the right to do this, and I'm surprised they let you get away with just one.
I am unsure of the issues regarding the non-profit status sorry.
