why do you think it's appropriate to force video ads into ebay listing pages.
please stop the new video ads that pop up and really put me off using ebay.
i've been buying and seling consistantly on here for 12 years and I will simply stop using ebay if this continues.

·2 months agoI totally agree, every time some bright spark has an idea to so call "Improve" things on any platform these days they just don't bother to give the individuals the choice not to have these changes. A simple setting in to turn on or off these things would be easy to do. I understand that many people enjoy these videos so leave it up the end user to choose. It's the same with WhatsApp etc... Forced changes without choice.

·2 months agoUnsure why you have picked a 13 year old post but let me explain why having an on/off switch for new features is not simple.
for ease, assume you are adding features to the homepage
if you introduce a new feature and it’s not optional all you need to do is AB test that it works where it needs to. That’s 1 test
now add on another feature. There’s four permutations (all off, all on, feature A only on and feature B ONLY ON. You would need to therefore perform 4 tests at each permutations
Two tears go by, you’ve got 10 features and each time the audience demands there’s an on off toggle. That’s 1,024 permutations.
add an 11th that’s 2,048.
and that’s not even allowing for what if the customer is logged in, logged out etc
they would rather only test once is the reason. Saves the sanity of the QA team
what you’d hope they’ve done is tested the feature to a small test audience to gauge engagement. EBay know some people will be annoyed (this will apply to whatever they introduce) but they would accept that and look at what percentage actually engage with the new feature to decide if it’s worthwhile to roll out.
