The Christmas adverts.
The Christmas adverts started as soon as November kicked in but what's your favourite and what's the one you like the least?
Have you seen the Amazon advert where the cleaner is "singing" as he works then he has a smart jacket bought for him and he's invited to sing at the microphone?
I think it's awful! It wouldn't be so bad if he was singing properly or even singing a nice song! I don't care for the originals of that song either never mind the awful job he's making of it!
So, what's your opinion?

·8 months agoI personally think they heyday for these adverts were when Waitrose/John Lewis were knocking it out of the park with dogs on trampolines!
All rather mundane down.

OP8 months agoThe tiresome Asda adverts are on nearly every ad break. BUT, they're reducing the amount of things they stock that is, stopping stocking 4,000 items according to a news item I read and also cutting back on staff sick days! Is Asda in trouble because their sales have declined by over 4% in the 12 weeks to the 30th of November! Those adverts are probably driving people away rather than encouraging buyers?

OP6 months agoRight, I know Chrismas is now far behind us but sticking with adverts, those that ramble on for a minute or more sound like a hard sell to me, as if they're trying to convince you about something rather than just advertise what they're on about? One in particular is really annoying, it's the simplicity cremations one. The bloke sounds like a con-man attempting to convince you to "buy"!!!!

·1 year agoI haven’t got a tree yet.
Amy has ordered me one.
When I asked her how much it was the usual answer, nothing.😁😁
Goodnight.

OP9 months agoAnother year, another round of tiresome adverts?
You must have seen this year's Asda advert? I'm sick of seeing and hearing it. The chap couldn't sing his way out of a paper bag!!! It's already been on sooooo long and it's only the beginning of November.
The Sainsbury's ad is nearly as bad. Why can't supermarkets advertise their stuff in a meaningful way instead of making up something stupid?

·9 months agoI'm with you @cee-dee awful, the whole lot is this year, and what's with the heart string pulling on the John Lewis ad???
It's only Dawn French who makes the M & S ad JUST bearable, but the others?
It's November, they were thought up too soon, shown much too soon, and with little Christmas spirit because we've only just had Bonfire Night, no one is in the Christmas Spirit yet ! 🙄

·9 months agoI realise the original post was a year ago but it's nice to have a more light-hearted post in the discussion boards, so thank you.
For me it's not an advert as such but the 2006 slogan "Christmas isn't Christmas without M&S", which apparently re-surfaced in 2023 at least in social media. It's amusing as, unlike many slogans, it's factually correct. Not sure if you're meant to remove one S or both, though.
Is it too early to wish you all a Happy Chrita?
