EBay censorship?
Summary: 3rdtimelucky64 expressed frustration over not being able to reply to a helpful response about blocking eBay's LIVE adverts because the forum thread was locked. jonatjonatjonat and rainbowtrax explained that the issue was due to a new setting in the member-to-member forum that restricted responses to only mentors, preventing original posters from replying. rainbowtrax notified the forum moderator, who promised to check the settings so original posters could reply in their threads again. **peaseblossom** acknowledged 3rdtimelucky64's gratitude for the advice that helped reduce the adverts.
Earlier today I posted asking how to turn off the damed flood of eBay’s LIVE adverts.
Someone kindly responded. I would liked to have replied to express my thanks, but the thread has been inexplicably been LOCKED. This is what I would have posted:
UPDATE - thanks to peaseblossom for the response. I’ve done as you suggested and it HAS stopped most of the pointless eBay LIVE drivel, but they still remain on the App, albeit much less frequent. I’ve always used ADBLOCKERS on ALL browsing, not just eBay, (you’d be stupid NOT to!).
Strangely this thread has been LOCKED, as have several others on the same topic. Are eBay scared most sensible people will disable this cr@ppy feature? They really know how to pi$$ off people!

·1 month agoThe original poster should be able to reply but at the moment they can't. It's a settings issue for that board which needs fixing.
@kat@ebay in the settings for Member To Member, the box labelled "Let the original poster keep replying" has been unticked and needs reticking and saving as OPs can't reply on their own threads without it.

Hi @rainbowtrax ,
Thanks for flagging this. I'll have the settings checked so the OP's can reply.
Thank you,
Kat

·1 month agothey aren’t locked as such.
It’s just you posted in the member to member forum.
In that forum the only people who can reply are those who are ‘mentors’
It used to be that the original poster could respond but on this new forum that isn’t the case.

·1 month agoThat seems to be something that has changed only in the last few days. Don't know if it is intentional but it seems to be leading to a lot of duplicate topics, like this one.

OP1 month agoAnother eBay change that breaks something that didn’t need fixing? Or another eBay ‘improvement’ that makes things worse?

·1 month agoIt was a temporary issue that has been resolved now.
