You've done it ebay - your search function became completely useless!
Summary: mos-6502 expressed frustration with eBay's search functionality, particularly when searching for specific items like the Sony A6600. They encountered irrelevant search results and had issues with default location filters, which consistently required manual adjustment to exclude international listings. sml192 suggested using inverted commas to refine search results, but auctionmike1 and mos-6502 noted that this solution does not resolve the persistent issues with irrelevant listings and the inconvenience of repeatedly setting location filters.
I've been on ebay since 2003 and that's it, I am done, enough is enough. For the past few months (or even years) browsing ebay has been a slippery slope towards utter garbage and I finally decided to rant here.
I am searching for "Sony A6600". The first three results are indeed Sony A6600, followed by no fewer that five Sony A6500, then another three A6600, then more A6500 and even A5100 for some reason. If this is your "Best Match", I don't want to see what a "worst match" or "just show me random crap" look like.
On top of it, EVERY GODDAMN TIME I search something, I need to find the filters and tick UK Only. I don't want anything from China. I don't want anything from Japan. I don't care about your international shipping and extra customs charges. I live in the UK, make this a default filter or at least make it easy to save it as a default filter. And even after I select this filter, here's the search result. Two wrong items, finally the one I'm actually looking for.

It's 2026 and something as simple as a search function, which worked perfectly fine 10 years ago, is a painful chore to use.

·2 weeks agoIf you put the term(s) you want to search for in inverted commas "" then you will only get listings that contain that exact term.

·2 weeks agoStill doesn't explain why the originally stated search dosn't work. The same problem occurs with dates, eg 1908 gives you stuff from all sorts of years.

OP2 weeks ago · EditedInverted commas were necessary in 1999 altavista search engine. 2026 ebay should relly know that searching for a Teddy Bear means I don't want to see Bready Deers.
And I will still get listings from countries three continents away unless I explicitly select the option not to, every single time I search something, or even worse - go back to search results in the browser. It's infuriating.
