Very slow delivery times since the changes on Feb 4th.

Anyone else noticing this?...before the changes were brought in i'd order something and it would be on my doorstep within 2-5 days max...now seem to be waiting well over a week for pretty much everything.
Are sellers thinking "soddit,if i've got to wait for my payments to come in then i'm not rushing to send stuff out".....?

·2 weeks ago · EditedI'm sold a K9 backpack to a guy in London last week, evening of 29th July 26. Had no option but to send via "Simple" delivery, and dispatched it next day, 30th July. Currently, Evri are saying it's still at the delivery depot!! Well that's damned convenient considering ebay don't release funds until two days after the item has been delivered - according to ebays new rules. It's almost as though Evri takes as long as possible so that ebay retains seller's funds as long as possible, all the while earning interest on the millions it's storing (of other people's money) at any one point in time. They are absolute, 100% crooks. I've had my account since 2004, and I'm closing it as soon as I've been paid, assuming that ever happens. Also, this is seriously bad for buyers...
My ebay messages show that the buyer already tried "reached out" about delivery but that ebay are handling it directly! I've tried messaging my buyer but ebay seems to be blocking that with the same "they are handling it" message.
So they hold onto money that isn't theirs, stop buyers and sellers from talking and make sellers look bad in the process while earning interest off of millions that aren't theirs. Why would anyone use ebay any?

It seems a bit soon for your buyer to have raised an 'Item not received' claim but why wouldn't you want eBay to deal with it? If the item is deemed lost in transit then under the terms for Simple Delivery they will refund the buyer themselves and you get to keep the original payment plus you will be protected against any neutral or negative feedback.

·2 weeks agoYou only sent the item last Thursday, which is only 2 working days ago, so it is hardly late being delivered yet.
Once you are eligible for faster payments you will generally receive payment within 24 hours of the buyer paying. To be eligible for faster payments you need to have at least 10 completed sales with a total value of £150 or more within the last 5 years, no more than 2 currently open requests/cases, and no more than 2 transaction defects within the last 12 months.

·2 weeks agoTo the buyer it's 5 days, so I can see why they're fed up in a day and age where Amazon Prime deliveries arrive so effortlessly the next day. Thanks for the info Re faster payments. If you're a casual ebay user like me (~100 transactions over the last 22 years) then the faster payments is never going to apply, but that's academic anyway, as I've no intention of using ebay again thanks.

·3 months agoThings are taking that long, even for small items, I'm now at a point where if i have to wait for stuff i mays well just use temu & the likes & pay £3 instead of £10 for a similar item, i pay the more expensive price because i want the item sooner but like i say mays well use temu at this rate!

·4 months agoNot at all - it’s the terrible Simply Delivery post we are forced to use. I sell plants and I usually send by first class for next day delivery. Now I’ve been forced to send this way my plants can take up to 2 weeks - really dreadful. I’m worrying the whole time 😪 We should be able to use whatever we want to post depending on what we’re selling. It’s awful

·4 months agoI'm getting really fed up with Ebay these days, deliveries are taking way too long to arrive, every chance I get to use Amazon I will and they will get priority over Ebay from now on.

·4 months agoThat's how I felt but the Royal Mail may have got their act together as the last three eBay purchases arrived within two or three days, even the dreaded Chelmsford Mail Centre didn't delay them. Hop it continues.

·4 months agoJust realised this thread was started in March last year, and yet the problems still apply, lol. It has not been a great year for any of the delivery services. At this point, as a very small seller, all I can ask for is common sense from a buyer. Thankfully, with the tracking, once an item shows as scanned at the shop counter, it is out of the sellers control and a lot of buyers are realising this. Trust me, the delays are equally frustrating for both the buyer and seller.

·4 months agoIt is not just the delivery details which are totally unacceptable but also the fact the prices on eBay seem to be increasing. It used to be the case you could check Amazon to find an item, then find the same item cheaper on eBay with free delivery. No longer. Ebay charging for the guarantee now doesn't help.

·7 months agoHi , the postage is ridiculous, this is going to stop me using eBay all together. The beauty of eBay was getting things that you could not get locally faster than a local supplier can get them, now there is a painful wait for stuff when the whole idea of ordering it was because you either wanted it OR needed it ASAP. They don’t wait 2 weeks to take payment.

is excellent but if he doesn't get the parcel there is nothing he can do.

·7 months agoSame here want the choice back there are some items I would like to send 24hr tracked but can't unless I don't use the label which means buyer get refunded and I end up paying for the 24hr tracked service. Never had any issues when making my own choice b and always used a rm tracked service

·9 months agoEvri are bloody pathetic! I'm not going to purchase anything from eBay which is being delivered by Evri! They need to be fined for late deliveries.
I'm still waiting for my last parcel 3 days late so far!

·9 months agoMost of my sold items have been sent by Evri and to be honest i have had no issues with them ,deliveries have been pretty quick and no frigile items have been damaged ,may be due to my packing rather than evri couriers caring ,but so far so good . I don't tend to buy items off ebay ,but my partner does and he has had several items taking a long time to arrive with the sellers not dispatching items for several days despite ebay taking payment straight away .

·9 months agoI've noticed that you can remove Evri from your courier options. I've switched Evri off on my couriers list just leaving just Royal Mail and DHL (I don't think DHL can be turned off). Life just got a whole lot easier.😀

·9 months agoIf using Royal Mail increases the cost to customers, it isn't by much and seems a small price to pay for a far superior service.
Before simple delivery was introduced, I always used to send via Royal Mail Tracked 48 and had several instances of items arriving the next day.
Evri seems to impose a compulsory 3 days sitting in a sorting hub for whatever reason, I have no idea.
In short, I'd expect to pay a little more for a service that is twice as fast as the cheaper alternative.

·11 months agoIv noticed evri are holding items at the delivery depot for longer now, two sometimes three days, its very frustrating. iv got two items right now just sat at the delivery depot for days. before simple delivery if an item reached the delivery depot early enough it would be delivered same day.

·1 year agoI have to echo what all other customers are saying. The only my orders arrive on the day the seller says is when the seller uses DPD for TV, Computers etc. Other orders can now take up to 2 weeks. Frustrating if the item is important. Ebay must be desperate my last item (laptop) had a huge July bonus discount of £62. Is being delivered by DPD tomorrow. Would have been today but I changed it. Ordered it Friday, weekend in between so in effectively 3 days. So it can be done.

OP1 year agoExpecting a delivery yesterday/today (via evri)...still not shown up & tracking info is now saying it's running behind schedule/still at their sorting hub...this is the 4th or 5th time this has happened in recent weeks with ebay deliveries...how on earth is simple delivery improving things?

·1 year agoThe Last two I have sent on 48hr tracked service with royal mail have taken 6 days. As i said previously when I did my own arrangements if it was picked up Monday it was there on Wednesday and constant tracking updates throughout.
I have noticed if parcels I receive from ebay seller that does not have market place on it gets here quicker
I am convinced it is because it has market place rubbish emblazoned all over it takes longer.
We are not children we can make our own decisions.
Ebay have taken the fun out of selling. It's absolute rubbish and if ebay listened then they would do a uturn

·1 year agoThere is no chance Royal Mail are taking time to sort out which are market place orders and which are not and thinking hmm lets keep them here for a couple of days. They'd have to do this every day and just have cages of parcels standing around, do you honestly think Royal Mail staff have the time and space to do that?

·1 year agoNo i don't It was just a comment to get frustration out of the way but as others have pointed out since using simple delivery things are taking longer to arrive it's not just me stating that.
And it makes it longer to get your funds the last item I sold was on the 19th had to wait till Monday to get it picked up because of problem with rm and I will not get my funds until Saturday.

OP1 year agoPlus when I look at items that have been delivered to me days ago - ebay are still not marking them up as delivered on the order details page - very unfair on the sellers - this whole simple delivery system is an absolute shambles.

Not keen on not have the tracking updated as it moves. I get a scan when collected then if I am lucky one when it arrives at delivery depot then one when delivered.
Always got regular updates when I did it my self
What were they thinking of bringing this in cannot see how it has streamlined anything

·1 year agoI've had that problem too. I've dispatched something as soon as possible only to get an update pushing the expected delivery date back by 48 hours. Half of the time Evri and the other low-end delivery services seem to subject all parcels to an obligatory three day languish at the 'National Sorting Hub'.

OP1 year agoI'm guessing that they probably can't cope with all the extra work since SD was introduced..things will probably get worse still if they can't use the "illegals" to do their delivering.

With EVRI it takes about a week.

·1 year agoI am having the same issue. Before this so called "simple delivery " I could get a parcel on 48hr delivery collected by Royal Mail on say a Saturday and it would be there on sometimes on a Monday but definitely by Tuesday.
One I have done last Saturday 19th has still not been delivered yesterday the tracking eventually updated to say it would be delivered today Thursday and this morning it says it is at Cardiff so whether it will be delivered who knows.
Also the tracking using simple delivery is atrocious. When I made the arrangements for collection when we had the choice you would get regular updates and you would get email when it was delivered now you have to keep checking.
Why they ever brought this in I will never know we are all old enough to be able to decide who we send the items with and we all knew the risks about non delivery etc

·1 year agoI’m a seller on eBay and I’m experiencing the same problems. The moment you post something it takes forever to get to a buyer. I think eBay is doing this on purpose so they can hold onto our money longer to gain interest on it before releasing it to our accounts. I have also noticed they pay my money in bits. If I sale an item for £50 they first release £30 after item delivered but still hold on to £20 for another days before release. eBay has become a joke. I have been using it for over 13 years but for the first time I have just moved to Vinted for a better service.

If eBay were upfront about this cheap system, the slowness, randomness and need for the delivery company to consolidate loads to be profitable it would make sense to me as a buyer and I would accept it. But this is Simple Delivery service is not a service, it's a joke. Tell us, eBay, if we need to pay more to get an item quickly. Don't pretend.
For the first time in years I've been looking at some of the other platforms to find items.

·6 months agoI think they could care less. Not is it only the delivery service or the
lack of, it is adding a fee to guarantee the product and service when it
was always free. I use to compare the cost of an item with Amazon and
invariably the same item on Ebay was much cheaper.
Not so now, the downside is Amazon has hiked the minimum order to £35 for
free delivery almost forcing customers to spend more.
Corporate greed all round.

·1 year agoAs a UK seller, I used the Royal Mail’s Tracked 48 service as it was competitively priced and covered up to £150. Items sent with this service would typically be delivered on time or even early. Now with eBay’s insistence on using Evri, Yodel etc delivery is proving much more precarious. Why they insist on using couriers with terrible reputations is beyond me. Delivery is taking twice as long, hence getting paid is taking forever. It’s in my interest to get an item dispatched as quickly as possible because that is the only way I can potentially get paid within a reasonable time frame.
Ebay is obviously floundering in the UK but the platforms that it worries so much about (Vinted, Depop etc.) don’t have the infrastructure of eBay.
Instead of scrapping the sale fees and then trying to claw something back through these pathetic’Buyer Protection Fees’ they should have just lowered their original fees and people would have been happier with that. All this turmoil isn’t good for buyer/seller confidence.

OP1 year ago*Would just like to add to this post that for the 3rd time in as many weeks an item that i've bought has not been delivered...I reckon this is something that happens roughly 3 or 4 times a year but for it to happen 3 times in 3 weeks is too much of a coincidence & makes me wonder whether some sellers are trying to "pull a fast one" by getting RM or whoever to refund them for items that have supposedly gone "missing in the post".

OP1 year agoYeah,i'm not buying all this new "simple delivery" claptrap...have ordered approx 8 or 9 things over the last 2 weeks & pretty much all of them are now running late...checking items on my purchases page & ebay are telling me items should've been delivered 2 days ago,check the tracking & the delivery company (eg yodel / royal mail) are saying it's not being delivered for another 2 days..I could understand it if it was 1 or 2 items but this is happening with nearly every order.

New Simple Delivery features, community events & other launches landing this March .Could be better for sellers .Since the waiting for payment came in I have been sending my items tracked 24 /48 but this new announcement will be better for me .
