Theft by seller
Summary: vladinsane reported an issue where a seller who was supposed to update software on mobile phones refunded them but kept the phones. Despite contacting eBay, they have been unable to obtain the seller's verified name and address, which the police need for their investigation into the theft. eBay has declined to assist further since a refund was issued.
A seller was listing a service to update software on mobile phones, I paid for the service and return postage and sent 2 phones to them, after quite some time and a lot of exchanges the seller refunded me but has kept my mobile phones. I have reported this theft to police and they are investigating but they would like more information on the seller but I can't find any way to ask ebay if they will help.
All the routes I find for getting help end with ebay saying as the seller has refunded me they do not want to know about problems, if they would just supply me or the police with a verified name and address it would be very helpful as all I could give the police was an ebay user ID and the address I posted the phones to.

In any event, eBay will not give the details of another private individual to you.
I feel it’s the police that would need to contact eBay instead - they will not help you directly
