Swapping advertised item for less quality
After 24+ years of both buying and some selling on the platform I am shocked how many sellers from China do two things, first they display a UK address so when you choose UK sellers only you get this problem then the parcels come from China you wait two weeks for delivery with clear Chinese customs clearance writing on the parcel this is a breach of eBay regulations but they do nothing when you report it, second is what happened to me on my last order (I knew this was a Chinese seller) advertising items that look fantastic then sending out a far inferior item that is nowhere near that same quality as the pictures they display on eBay.
Thankfully eBay actually gave me a full refund today after the seller offered me £2 partial refund for the purchase then totally ignored me for weeks, would not reply to messages and just cut me off I even left honest feedback to warn other buyers, I know the eBay feedback rules well so I didn't mention anything that would give them reason to take the feedback down, unfortunately eBay still removed my feedback all because the seller is a power seller and makes eBay vast amounts of cash, eBay are not interested in protection of the buyer until you complain, leaving feedback that warns others they take that as money lost from sales so eBay removes it and hopes the deceived buyer will just accept the crappy product they get sent and can't be bothered to return it... Or it it just me?
Unfortunately now days I only buy from eBay if I can't find what I want elsewhere I don't spend hardly anything on eBay now days compared to the thousands of pounds a year I used to spend on the platform even ten years ago, I shop all over the place online now days something I would never of thought of doing before eBay was always my number one go-to place for everything, nowadays it's my last resort as bargains are to had everywhere online in 2026 not just eBay.
