Shipping perfumes from UK to EU
Summary: batgirl24061979 inquired about shipping perfumes from the UK to the EU, specifically Finland, via eBay International Shipping. They are concerned due to flammability restrictions, despite seeing some sellers allowing it. jonatjonatjonat confirmed that if perfumes are prohibited, they may not pass the shipping hub, but a refund could be pursued through eBay's guarantee if not delivered. kat@ebay confirmed that perfumes are not allowed under eBay's shipping program. batgirl24061979 expressed hesitation to order due to potential shipment blocks and refund difficulties.
Hi,
I wanted to ask whether it is okay to buy perfumes from the UK and have them shipped to the EU.
Perfumes seem to be prohibited for international shipping because they are flammable. However, I can see that some sellers allow international shipping for perfume products.
In this particular case, I am referring to a Harrods advent calendar containing several perfumes.
Would this be allowed to be shipped from the UK to an EU country (Finland) through eBay International Shipping? And if the package is rejected because it contains perfume, would I be eligible for a full refund?
Thank you!

Hi @batgirl24061979 ,
Thank you for your post.
Just to add to the advice and confirm that perfumes are not allowed to be shipped through the eBay International Shipping programme.
Thank you,
Kat

OP2 weeks agoHere you can find about it:
https://community.ebay.com/forum/selling-57920/topic/international-selling-and-specific-country-exclusions-123520/
It says: Due to export limitations and restrictions, items listed in the following categories also can't be shipped with eBay International Shipping. This is not an exhaustive list and it may be updated based on transportation regulations and export laws.
Any category or items containing Radium or other radioactive materials
Dangerous goods requiring hazardous handling labels & documentation
Export-controlled items requiring license > Ex. Military vehicle parts
Business & Industrial > Heavy equipment & attachments
Collectibles > Knives, swords & blades
eBay Motors > Airbags, used parts (containing hazardous residue), AC refrigerant, vehicle paint (flammable)
Electronics > Standalone lithium batteries (not inside or with a device)
Electronics > High-power lithium battery devices (over 100 watt-hour)
Electronics > Drones
Health & Beauty > Fragrances (flammable perfumes & cologne)
Flammable or otherwise hazardous aerosols
Jewelry > High value
Personal security > Pepper spray, stun guns, handcuffs
Sporting goods > Other (CO2 cartridges, firearms, firearm parts, laser scopes)
Replica firearms > Prop guns
Stamps, coins & paper money
So I'm hesitating to place an order. I don't want it to be blocked and then struggle to get my money back.

·2 weeks agoIs the listing definitely eBay international shipping? Sellers can make their own arrangements as well (though take care in those instances as duties and taxes may not be included)
No one can really advise if the item would get through the international shipping hub though if perfumes are not permitted I’d say its unlikely.
In any event if your item is not delivered, you would use the eBay money back guarantee to get a refund.

OP2 weeks agoThanks for your explanation ! Yes, it says Ebay international shipping. But not sure how it works, does Ebay review what is listed before allowing it, or it is the buyer selecting it..
