Seller wants more money to send items as postage labels ebay provided has expired
Summary: lovelifeinfull is facing an issue where the item they purchased hasn't been sent because the seller claims the postage label expired. The seller is requesting additional payment for new postage through PayPal or bank transfer. **peaseblossom** suggests the best course of action is to cancel the transaction and have the seller relist the item for purchase. cobwebcottage advises against paying outside of eBay and recommends opening an item not received case. They mention that unused labels are automatically refunded by eBay.
I brought a item on the 7 August the seller still hasn’t posted the item even though we have been messaging each other.
Today he messages me stating the postage label provided from eBay has now expired and he has spoken to eBay and they have said to take the parcel to Royal Mail and post it with them the buyer will receive a refund for the postage and they will need to pay you for the new postage
1 - is this correct information?
2 how Would the buyer get a refund for the original poastage
3- the seller is asking buyer to send the postage to them either PayPal or bank transfer is this correct way to do it ?

·3 weeks agoPostage labels expire after 14 days and if the buyer paid they will automatically get a refund in 30 days. To keep it on ebay it would be best for the seller to cancel/refund the transaction and relist for you to buy and pay again.

OP3 weeks agoIf I did carry on and just paid for the new postage do you know how I would get the refund in the old postage is it for the seller to sort or would I have to ask eBay to refund it

·3 weeks ago · EditedYou will not have any proof of paying the buyer off of Ebay so I doubt that they would refund you. You are better to cancel the purchase ( by opening an INR) and tell the buyer that you will buy it again if they relist it. The buyer will get a refund for the postage label they didn't use and you will get a full refund.
