Scalpers should be banned from eBay
Summary: nigelica2009 expressed frustration over the limited availability of Pokémon items, noting long queues and sold-out stock. They criticized scalpers for reselling items at high prices and suggested that eBay should intervene to prevent such practices. boundarycoins responded by questioning the ethics of reselling and mentioned that eBay could enforce stricter measures by converting private seller accounts to business ones to address tax implications for sellers.
Pokemon day is here again. I went out to buy a couple of items and they had already sold out and where they had not the queues were ridiculous despite the rain. Nothing available within a 30 mile radius. The shops limit purchases but some people are blatently getting around this and offering cases of ETB's at more than double the price. Where there is a limited supply eBay should help discourage scalpers by banning them from selling, it's clear who they are if they have got that many, and if they dont have that many they are probably fake ID's trying to rob us all.

·2 weeks agoRoughly 10% of your listings are brand new. Have you really never bought anything and held it to sell for a markup later? Ethically, i’m not sure there is much difference between the seller listing it the same day or waiting months or years to do the flip.
What eBay can crack down on are the private accounts trading in this way by moving them onto business accounts. There are a lot of people doing this type of scalping and paying no attention to the tax implications so the profit now could end up becoming a nightmare for them later and they will wish they had never got involved in it.

OP2 weeks agomaybe 10% of mine are relatively new, last NEW item was a sealed 360 game I got from a car boot, unlike the scalpers who buy crate loads of things that no-one else seems to be allowed to have more than one of - that is if they are lucky enough to get one in the first place. 3 x the RRP for a pokemon trainer box, make a decent offer to double their purchase price they laugh at you and when they have not sold put the price UP not down.
