No Code No Collect !!

I ordered from a Business Seller who only gave two options for postage. Evri or Royal Mail Click and Collect. Thinking Royal Mail was the safer option I selected that. I was asked to give a mobile number to receive a collection code. No code was sent.
Printed off the order details , took my proof of identity and a picture of the Royal Mail "delivered " photo. I described what was in the parcel - it was a record but all the guy would say was NO CODE NO COLLECT.
As far as Seller is concerned it's delivered so there is no problem. Seller does not seem to understand that it was sent to a parcel shop not my Home address. I contacted Ebay customer Services and was told the 6 digit code would be on my order history under "Local Collection Details " - no it's not. There's the parcel shop address but no code.
Royal Mail apparently have a reputation for this . Delivering parcels to shops and lockers but not sending collection codes.
Seems like a bit of a con to me ...You place an order,it gets sent to a shop, you cannot collect as no code is given, you cannot re direct delivery with Royal Mail as technically it's been delivered,Seller washes their hands of it as they have a delivery picture and Ebay just will have nothing to do with it.
It might get returned to sender but when is anyone's guess. I think you have 10 days to collect from a parcel shop so it will be the 29th before it's due for return as it was not collected. At this time of year it might be into January before it's returned . Possible I am looking at February 2026 before I could claim a refund assuming the record is returned undamaged.
So what can I do when no one is taking responsibility for the code not being sent ?.
I will try and get the shop keeper to send back quicker than the 10 days they will hold it so at least I can try and get a refund.
I'd guess other buyers have had the same problem.
If anyone knows a solution please let me know.
Thanks.

·1 month agoThis has happened twice with me. My latest item has been delivered to the shop, but I have no collection code!!. " No code, no collect" the shop tells me. Ebay says " sorry, item has been delivered". Now eveil ebay is telling me that the collection code is nothing to do with them, and they have closed my case!!!. Ebay have told me that I have to contact the courier to get the collection code!!!! Ebay are rurning into a numpty, evil Evri type outfit. Either the AI does not understand English, or its the staff. I report to an ebay 'agent'; later I get a msg from ebay saying something completely different!!!!!

·7 months agoNo solution but did the seller use ebay's official click and collect system or just enter the parcel shop as the address?
If they used the official c&c did they include the ECP number on the package?
Do you have the RM tracking number and does it state "delivered" in the tracking?

OP7 months agoThank you. Yes it was one of the Post options at the checkout. Seller is now saying they only send to where the Ebay Label tells them to send and can do nothing to Help.
I printed out details of the order with my name, the ECP number and the click and collect shop address on the label, the Royal Mail tracing showing delivered and the proof of delivery photo but shop staff just said NO CODE NO COLLECT.
Royal Mail sent a Due to be delivered email, a delivered email and a "how did we do e mail " but no collection code.

Might be a bit of a long-shot but have you checked your Spam folder?
punkwroc77
OP7 months agoHello, Yes check my E Mail spam folder . They sent me e mails about the delivery but as far as they are concerned I am not the recipient the Shop is. I went to the shop again today but the person couldn't even be bothered to stop using their mobile phone to speak to me .I wanted to ask them to return the parcel with Royal Mail instead of waiting 10 days. But the person behind the counter would talk to me and just kept repeating " speak to the company".
Shop was 90 minutes late in opening as well. Why Royal Mail are dealing with people who can't or won't speak English and who have a shop with no regular opening hours is beyond me.

·7 months agoI really don't think you understand how click and collect (C&C) works. It is also ebay that has the contract for C&C with the shop, as in it is ebay that chooses the C&C locations, not RM.
You have limited days to collect before it might be returned. You will find it hard to get a refund if it is as it has shown as delivered. Your focus needs to be on getting that code, are you sure it wasn't in an email from ebay telling you the item had been delivered?

Not according to https://pages.ebay.co.uk/clickandcollect/
"If you can’t collect your parcel within this time, it will be returned to the seller and you’ll receive a refund."
papso22
·7 months agoExcept there is no ebay process to help you get that refund. It's down to the seller, and then only if they do actually get the item back, which is down to the shop.
punkwroc77
OP7 months agoSo what your saying is if a buyer selects click and collect and no one bothers to send a code the buyer doesn't get the order and doesn't get a refund ?. That is shocking.
And there is no way to get the code ?.
papso22
·7 months agoYou must have chosen click and collect as the address at checkout. It's ebay that provides the collection code, you need to ask them for it.
When you asked before they thought you meant the code for collection in person from the seller's address, that's on the order form. Click and collect is a different process, the code is generated when the item is scanned in at the collection place.

OP7 months agoHello, Yes I did chose the click and collect service from Royal Mail. I gave my mobile number to be sent a collection code. I was sent 3 Emails about the parcel . On the 9th one saying parcel was out for delivery and then a second saying parcel had been delivered to the collection place which is a shop in the town center . But no E Mail or Text with a collection code.
I did contact Ebay Customer services and this was the reply

·7 months agoIgnore that - (as you say) there's an ECP code.
What does the Delivery info (status) say on the Order (on a browser)? (see example below)
str11p
·7 months ago(The collection code is normally shown on the order page as well as sent by email.)
My guess is the shop have not registered the packet as received.
Either there was no ECP code on the packet or
there was an ECP code and the shop staff member didn't register it.
Hopefully you can find a helpful member of staff to find the packet and ask them to try registering the ECP code "again".
punkwroc77
OP7 months agoMy name was on the label, then the eCP code and the shop name and address.
I have tried to communicate with the shop staff but none of them can or want to speak English so I cannot ask them anything.
Have just wrote off the money.

·7 months agoUp to you. It might be returned to seller and you get a refund.
If the order page, as above, does not show "Ready", you can discuss with customer services, that there was no way for you to collect it.
Potentially you could tag one of the ebay reps on here (who tend to understand UK specific issues such as ECP C&C) better than CS and ask them to look at it, they may be able to talk the shop through what they should do to register the parcel (assuming that's the issue).
(I can't remember if you already said this) Have you seen the packet at the shop (or does the delivery photo match the shop)? If not, another possibility is it was delivered somewhere else.
