·2 weeks agoI buy books on eBay and I particularly dislike
For one of my saved authors, the seller has only used 2 images of a real book cover on the first page of 60 results. eBay does not think this is a problem!

·2 weeks agoI personally think it's the height of laziness not to use one's own photos of the exact item being sold.
No, it's not you, I certainly would turn to the seller's feedback to check how sales were being completed, if any bad feedback was present, and no I would not buy from sellers using library generated photos on listings.

·2 weeks agoIt can be lazy but it is the obvious move for sellers who are trying to sell at scale. They reach a crossroads where they have to use stock photos or stop growing. eBay listing allowances and sheer time it takes to list at scale will force the hand. It is one of the major reasons why live selling is becoming popular for sellers who can show the item in hand and get through volume.

·2 weeks agoYou are correct @boundarycoins , and I should have been more explanatory in my thinking and post above, whereby I was applying not buying from Private sellers selling low numbers of items and still not using their own photos.
Big power sellers, of course eBay library photos are needed here, for the sheer number of listings and of usually, Brand new items.

·2 weeks agoIt is understandable for a multi quantity listing that is lower priced. Say I have 100x One Penny coins of similar grade the only way to really do it is take a representative photo for 1 listing and set the quantity at 100.
You are right with higher value coins, the photos should be of the exact item. I stumbled across one seller a while ago who was taking the black and white photo from a catalogue like this. It makes listing a dream but I can’t imagine it got them many sales.
