Item not as described
Summary: uk-luits expressed frustration over a purchase described as 'excellent' but received in poor condition, and was unable to resolve the issue through eBay's buyer protection, as the return was closed without appeal. hamble28 suggested using the 'Not As Described' reason for returns, which bypasses seller refusal, but uk-luits had selected 'changed my mind', limiting their options. hamble28 advised that private sellers can refuse such returns and suggested considering cleaning and reselling the item.
So I bought an item and when it arrived was disappointed with the condition of it.
It was described as in 'excellent' condition but I found that inaccurate as I found it dirty, scuffed and scratched... Buyer is adamant that it is in 'excellent' condition and closed my return.
I had buyer protection on the item but eBay closed the return without a chance of appeal.. what is the point of buyer protection if it doesn't actually benefit/protect the buyer?
Any suggestions as to what I should do next?
I am not happy with the item and feel that it is unhygienic to the point that I will never wear it TBH.

·1 month agoDid you use the reason ‘Not As Described’ to open the return case? This is the only one the seller does not have the ability to refuse.
If you did you should have immediately received a return label from ebay on acceptance of the return and the refund would be automatic about 2 days after tracking showed the parcel arrived back.
Messaging the seller and arguing about the condition does no good, you have to just follow the automatic return procedure. Did you do this or just ask for a return in messages?

OP1 month agoI didn't know about that caveat so I just put 'changed my mind' instead unfortunately.

Can you wash the item and resell it?
