False reason to cancel my order
Summary: balo-adri expressed frustration over a canceled eBay order, noting the seller falsely claimed they initiated the cancellation. They inquired about possible actions. tressygirl suggested contacting eBay Customer Services to report the issue, explaining that sellers sometimes use this tactic to avoid penalties. They advised persistently seeking a live agent through the eBay app and suggested leaving neutral feedback. balo-adri thanked them and voiced concerns about the item possibly being sold to someone else, feeling the situation was dishonest.
Hi, I am wondering if you could help.
I ordered an item on EBay and 5 days later , the seller cancelled my order and the message said that I cancelled it. Well, I didn’t! Its UNTRUE . I would rather hear an honest explanation, than pointing fingers at me. I really would like the item, so I messaged the seller, and the reply was that there is a family funeral.
The item listed said SOLD and now I can’t see it at all.
What do we think about it.
Is there anything I could do?
Thank you

·3 weeks agoThe seller selected the reason for cancellation as ' Buyer Requests to Cancel,' because this does not give them any damaging defect on their selling account, neither any applicable fees to pay.
All you can do if you wish, is to contact CS, explain you did not request to cancel and were disappointed not to receive your item. You will not be told or see any action, but they 'll probably place that defect on the seller's account.
A Private seller cannot receive too many defects this points to bad selling and eBay do not like disappointing their buyers. Too many defects and the seller is booted of eBay.... can be permanently.
Contacting eBay Customer Services is not easy nowadays to get a live agent , but some have had success using the app, otherwise keep typing in ' I wish to speak to an agent' and this too can work.
Use this link to contact CS, if you can try at 8 a.m. on a weekday morning also more chance there for Dublin to answer.
https://www.ebay.co.uk/help/eua?id=5190
Lines open between 8 a.m. to10 p.m. on weekdays.
9 a.m. to 6 p.m. on weekends.
You can leave feedback too, don't mention any cancellation / eBay involvement that breaks feedback rules something simple such as .... ' Very disappointed the seller did not carry through this transaction. '

OP3 weeks agoThank you very much for your reply. I am not a frequent buyer so don’t have much experience.
Do you think that the item was sold to someone else? I just found this experience very dishonest.
Anyway
Thank you again!

·3 weeks agoWe, like you, can only guess at the reason, but a family funeral could be genuine.
