EBay failing Buyers.

I purchased a set of golf clubs, and only after completing the sale noticed the seller was collection only. Firstly there was no location on the listing and when I clicked on the Maps sign hoping it would give me an address a map of London came up, with no location given. So I immediately cancelled the order. Apparently the seller has refused the cancellation, although I'd sent a message explaining why I couldn't pick them up, but asked if he could post them and I'd cover any postage costs, to which he has not replied. Yet EBay has gone and paid him out of a balance I held on the site. From my investigations any distance selling must have the sellers name and address, you also have time to cancel the order. Why doesn't these regulations apply to EBay sales? Over to past 20+ years I have bought numerous items on EBay, but this is the last I'll ever buy from them they talk about protecting buyers but that's all it is talk. The company has lost a good customer. They had no right to send my money when I had already notified them I wanted to cancel the order.

OP3 weeks agoThe only problem I have is the seller has ignored my messages, I have no idea his location. And EBay are as helpful as a chocolate tea cup.

·3 weeks agoAs the seller has, rather foolishly, declined your cancellation request you will have to open an 'Item not received' claim instead. You should be able to do thst 7 days after the date of sale.

·3 weeks agoDid you pay through eBay Checkout ? as Addresses cannot be exchanged until payment is completed for Collection Items ( exception Vehicles ).

This only applies if you are purchasing from a business. If you are purchasing from a private seller - this does not apply.
Cancellations are also only ever requests to the seller, though I'd agree it makes zero sense for them not to cancel. Further guidance on what to do now is here
