Cainiao/CNDS UK items. And Why is Ebay's Reporting & Appeal System Such an Insulting Joke?
Summary: london-mac expressed frustration with eBay's reporting and appeal system, describing it as ineffective, especially in handling issues with misleading seller locations. They detailed an experience where they ordered an item expecting quick delivery from a nearby seller, only to find it was being shipped from China. Despite providing evidence, their complaints to eBay were repeatedly rejected. They highlighted the issues with tracking systems and mentioned concerns about the CNDS UK setup, which they believe allows UK sellers to dropship from China under false pretenses. london-mac is seeking more information on avoiding such setups in the future.
Why is Ebay's reporting & appeal system such a Joke? Has the company absolutely zero integrity left?
I guess asking that second question is as pointless as reporting an item/seller in the first place ... so I'm really just posting this as it might help others.
I bought an urgent/essential component, specifically choosing the nearest seller 25 miles away as I needed it to complete a job. Item said delivery in 3 days which seemed reasonable given it could have arrived next day. 10 days later it still hasn't arrived. In fact, it isn't even in the country yet.
Seller started lying & fobbing me off. Ebay tracking gave absolutely no information and just stalled at "we are expecting the item" for a week. Ebay tracking is, in essence, also lying (by omission).
Eventually got an Evri tracking number off the seller and found the same thing. Evri tracking is ALSO lying by omission and shows the same lack of information.
And here's the first tip ... use one of the independent global package tracking websites to check.
I did so, and it proved that the item was still in China. That it had never been in England at all. And it was coming via something called 'CNDS UK'.
Second tip ... it appears that "CNDS UK" is some kind of affiliate or drop shipping set up where UK sellers can sell items from China, that that they don't own or have, from Chinese sellers & earn a commission on sales. Something to do with 'Cainiao', a logistics and supply chain company set up by the Alibaba/Aliexpress Group.
Now, I specifically DIDN'T want a Chinese seller. I could have ordered one from China myself if I had. I am long sick of when Chinese seller used to using bogus locations to sell items & I chose UK only. This system appears to be partly designed to circumvent that & is being exploited by individuals within the UK.
Question ... where do they learn to do such scam? There many of them all doing the same thing, with an "instant" supermarket of 100s of identical items. Where is this being advertised or them recruited?
Confronted seller, got fobbed off. Reported "false location" to Ebay ... with precise tracking evidence, absolutely proving that the item was in/coming from China. Ebay's entry level AI agent decided that it was not true. Complaint rejected ... which is what I expected because they always do.
Put in the appeal with precise tracking evidence, absolutely proving that the item was in/coming from China not the UK ... Ebay's agent decided that it was not true. Complaint rejected again ... Why do they even bother offering a system to report things? Is it just therapy to work out our frustrations, or is it just to waste our time, to make sure we don't use up their time & resources again? I'm guessing that I didn't even interact with a human, but I've experienced similar completely 'opposite to the truth' denial from their human customer service in the past.
Seems like Ebay doesn't only not want independent sellers any more, it doesn't want buyers either ... soon they'll be working out way of making money out of the Chinese mass marketers ... without them selling to anyone anymore.
Anyone know anything more about this "CNDS UK" business? I'd like to avoid it completely in the future.
Apparently Cainiao literally means "the bird who only eats legumes". Does that mean they think we are vegetables ... or are the beans (legumes) the money in our wallets?

·1 week agoReporting the listing won’t do anything. What might is reporting item not received once you are past the last estimated delivery date. And leave negative feedback (keep it fairly lacking in details, just put disappointed with transaction - you add any more and these kinds of sellers also know the tricks to get feedback removed)
Sadly eBay won’t tell you the outcome of any reports and this seller would need a few reports before eBay look into it.
Though as you say, there’s loads of them, some could possibly be the same person, loading up the results pages with multiple listings that all point to them.
