Bought something thats broken now I cant send it back as its been too long and cant open request anymore

Im new to this here, never had this issue, but I feel like I'm hard done without reason..
Bought a gearbox from a chap, he promised its been reconditioned and cost 1200quid...
I've bought this for my car i was fixing up at the time, well box looked good, chap sounded genuine, gone collected it.. all fine here...
My car developed some other issues so I decided not to invest anymore and cut my losses basically...
So i put the so called reconditioned gearbox up for sale...
Time gone past, as it wasn't easy to sell this from 1 day to another... eventually managed to sell the box... all good, i said the same thing to the new buyer what I was told by the guy thay I bought it from
The person took it, installed it.. and the gearbox is not good...great, just my luck
So the guy went ballistic at me, and basically made it out like I lied...
I took responsibility and refunded him, got the box back.. apologised.
I messaged the guy I bought the gearbox from... well he started coming out with questions how do zi know its the same box, how this how that...
I actually made marks on the box when i sold it, nuts and other bits...
But the guy is not taking responsibility at all, doesn't want to take the box back as its been awhile...
Im very disappointed as thers no customer service here and all I get is some Ai chatbox that doesn't help me with nothing..
The guy stopped answering back and basically doesn't care...
I really feel like he needs to take responsibility and take the box back...
I sold it in good faith, keept it as its a good box.. but its not fit for purpose...
Also paid buyers protection.. but clearly that doesn't mean anything 馃檮 馃槖
I cant request refund as its been longer than 1 month...

路Sep 14, 2026 at 5:34 AMThe buyer protection fee is nothing to do with the money back guarantee which only lasts for 30 days from delivery. After that ebay is not interested.

Box may be ok after all.
Might just be a "remorse" purchase,couldn't really afford or,like youself,cutting their losses on a "no go further" project and using the MBG to get their money back.
