Auction won, paid immediately, seller cancelled and relisted - has anyone experienced this?
Summary: obadimeji won an auction for a DJI Osmo Pocket 4 Creator Combo, paid immediately, and specified a UK delivery address. However, the seller canceled the order due to an alleged issue with the shipping address and relisted the item. obadimeji noted an outdated address on their profile and corrected it, but still faced difficulties as they were blocked from rebidding. They sought advice after reporting the incident to eBay, questioning the seller's actions. tea_and_tortoises suggested the cancellation might be due to the absence of feedback on the long-standing account, which could have caused concern for the seller. obadimeji acknowledged this and expressed a wish for better communication from the seller.
Hi everyone,
I'm looking for some advice.
I recently won an auction for a DJI Osmo Pocket 4 Creator Combo and paid immediately after the auction ended.
The order confirmation showed my UK delivery address. However, the seller later cancelled the order, giving the reason that there was "something wrong with the buyer's shipping address."
My eBay profile still contained my old African address, although the shipping address for this order was my UK address. I've since updated my profile to remove the old address.
Shortly after cancelling my order, the seller relisted the exact same item. I contacted the seller politely to explain the situation, but I haven't received a response and I also appear to be blocked from bidding on the relisted item.
I've reported the matter to eBay because I wanted them to review whether the cancellation reason was used appropriately.
Has anyone experienced something similar? Is there anything else I should do, or is it now simply a case of waiting for eBay's review?
Thanks in advance.

·1 month agoEbay are unlikely to take any action and certainly won't tell you if they do take any action. If you are expecting a review, that simply won't happen.
It may be that the seller used the 'issue with address' reason because they were concerned about selling to you.
You have had an account since 2014 with absolutely no feedback. That may have raised red flags with the seller and they just didn't want to deal with you.

OP1 month agoThanks, that makes sense and I hadn’t considered the lack of feedback being a factor. My account is old because I hadn’t really used eBay for purchasing before.
What confused me was that I paid immediately and the order confirmation clearly showed my UK delivery address. The african address was an old profile/account detail rather than the shipping address for the transaction. I’ve now corrected that.
I can understand a seller being cautious with a high-value item; I just wish they had contacted me before cancelling, as I could easily have clarified everything.
