Age verification for purchasing a 'bladed article'
eBay now requires credit card verification that I am over 18 but I don't have or need a credit card. However a debit card won't do.
The bladed article in question was a woodwork handsaw.
My eBay account has been running for 20 years+. How does eBay not know this when they sent a congratulatory message on the 20th anniversary of its inception?
Come on eBay wake up and use your AI for a constructive purpose.

·Jul 16, 2026 at 10:07 AMeBay do know you have had your account for 20 years but it would not stop a minor using it to buy a bladed item, and the only way to prevent this, would be to enter a credit card at time of purchase.
Any one of any age can own a debit card, but you have to be 18 years or older to own a credit card. Since those Companies have already vetted applicants before issuing said cards, eBay ' hop on' this completed verified system, a cheap way to prove an age , when buying any bladed item.

·1 month agoDespite much ongoing discussion, argument and appeals, the Knife policy restriction still appears for any item considered to have a sharp edge. point or a cutting blade (including scissors, hedge clippers, lawnmower blades, handsaws etc.) ---
Currently only a ( monthly payment ) Credit Card entry to confirm your age is acceptable to eBay --- nothing else will do !! --- an everyday use Debit Card will not be accepted.
Do you have a friend or family member who can buy on your behalf ?.
