£5 purchase - is it worth starting a return?
I purchased a pair of gloves about 9 quid with postage. On arrival they are defective with stitching on seams having come away in a number of places. I reached out to the seller but no response. It hardly seems worth doing a return which will cost me 4 pounds postage I assume. Though they are a business seller I can find no info re their returns policy. Should I just keep them and leave a negative review?

·1 week agoI often just leave a negative (depending on the amount,) because at a certain point, the seller is using your time/work to return. It seems rare these days, that the Seller will refund for "item not as described." They and Ebay will insist that you do a "return." They both know that below a certain amount, most people won't do anything.

·1 week agoA return where the only real cost is your time. If you had to really go out of your way to return it then £9 might not be justifiable I suppose

·1 week agoThe seller can get the neg removed if they can prove you didn't try to go through the proper returns process via the MBG.

·1 week agoSo you are saying if you do not initiate a return, you can not leave a negative?

·1 week ago · EditedIt would depend very much on what the buyer says in the feedbsck. There is nothing specifically in the Feedback Policy that permits removal for this reason.
A buyer should always try to resolve the situation with the seller first, though, and leaving negative feedback should be the last resort:
'What happens if I leave negative feedback?
Negative feedback becomes a permanent part of a seller’s record, and can harm their reputation and their business. If possible, you should try to work with the seller to resolve any transaction issues before you leave negative feedback.
If you do decide to leave negative feedback, make sure it’s fair and factual, and relates specifically to the transaction.'

·1 week agoOpen an item not as described case. Seller will have to pay for return

OP1 week agoIs that an "item didn't match description" ? Does that mean that if I choose damaged as a return reason the seller isn't obliged to pay the postage?

·1 week agoDamaged would also be a reason why the return wouldn’t cost you anything in terms of postage.
If it’s a private seller having used simple delivery then eBay actually step in and refund themselves. If it’s a business then they would be liable for the cost of the return.
It’s only change of mind returns (that private sellers can choose to decline) that would normally be at your cost. Ones like doesn’t fit or just don’t like it
