Well, this is embarrassing.

For 24hrs now I've been getting the Global Error page below when editing ONE of my active multi-variant listings;
" Well, this is embarrassing. We're sorry, the listing tool isn't working right this second. Please try again later. Go to Seller Hub page"
I've tried clearing browser data, caches, using new browsers, using new devices, disabling scipts. I also can't even work around it and edit variant quantities on the 'manage variants' page as I get a system error;
" System error. Unable to process your request. Please try again later. "
I'm unable to just duplicate and repost the listing as it's a 250 variant active listing with lots of sales data in a competitive market. I can't just delete it and start again. I'm just looking to edit stock of variants, not even edit anything, but nothing is working.
Any ideas how to fix or workaround?

I use Chrome and the error is the global error that everyone has had. Only one of my listings is acting up as far as I can tell but it's the one with the most variations

💛 Thanks to everyone in this thread who was vocal about it and took time to call support and engage with eBay to get it escalated and fixed. It's been a rough week! Just me personally am very grateful if it's behind us, and imagine it may have gone un-noticed and dragged on longer if it weren't for all you business sellers being so switched on with reports and escalations, so thank you!
eBay: Compensation doesn't seem to be in your policy, but you really should consider wavering 1 month of fees to those that were effected, or at least reach out and reward individuals who took time to test/debug/call you to help resolve the situation. This shouldn't be something the community has to deal with, and when it rallies together to help resolve issues, it would be nice if we all felt some gratitude or at least accountability from your side. Take a leaf out of Shopify's book too for future tech issues like this, and consider a 'status' page for bigger bugs that affect users so we a have a transparent way of checking in on errors instead of raising pitchforks in discussion threads. I've been here 17 years now and things don't seem to have improved on that front. Thanks at least to @kat@ebay for participating in the thread, it's nice to have a name or voice on the inside to reassure us we're being heard when things go wrong.

·1 month agotried this again at 2.22am on Sunday morning and it is still not working. It has now been 7 days since I could last list anything, 7 days of wasted time and 7 days I have lost in both sales and shop fees. Are Ebay ever going to get this fixed or maybe give us a discount on next months shop fees.

·1 month agoExtremely frustrating this bug has appeared again. I have a listing with 41 variants and 6 sizes (246 variations in total) that I couldn't revise tonight, however after revising a few other listings, I was able to revise after persisting.
It may not work, but try editing another variant listing and go back to it.
I did get through to eBay on the phone and they are very well aware of the bug apparently.

·1 month agoSame here, been like it since Monday, the odd edit goes through, reported it but just get a copilot type of reply, absolute shambles from a company of that size, sure a day maybe, but almost a week is totally unacceptable

·1 month ago · EditedSo after a little bit of testing, I have been able to make changes to listings with 140 variations, however not with 153 variations, I will try and narrow down what the limit I can go to is, and if anyone else can test to see if its similar, we might be able to work out what the max is until resolution, hope this helps :)

·1 month agoWell guys, when I tried to edit my listing with problem via manage active listings. I selected all listings and clicked edit selected, then I found out that this particular listing has red sign in a status column. Also at the top of the page is says system error.

OP1 month agoTotally, worth noting, when you do this 250 times you get locked out of your listing for 24hrs with a new error message, seems to be some kind of call limit that's normally reserved for the eBay API

I'm now in an awkward position where I'm falling behind competitors both on and off eBay and it's entirely eBay's fault. It's the first time in 17 years on the site that I'm genuinely considering other options, yet trying to stay grounded. Not doomsaying, just being transparent for anyone at eBay Customer Services browsing this thread, as there will be others in my position who are less vocal and just leave without trace. For every 1 of us calling customer support and waiting patiently there are probably 10 others getting frustrated and leaving the platform. This needs escalating/prioritising, our eBay stores are the backbone of our businesses and problems like this can't be brushed under the rug. We understand tech issues can be a mammoth undertaking, but there is no transparency or escalation for critical issues, and we're left turning customers away with empty pockets. Regards, a frustratingly loyal customer.

I have followed up with tech for this issue and it is being checked. They need some further detail in the error message to help with the investigation. What we need is the RLOG and the below is how you get it
Go to the exact page where the error is happening.
Right-click the page and select “View page source,” or press
Ctrl+Uin Chrome.In the source-code tab that opens, press
Ctrl+F.Search for
rlog.Copy the RLOG ID that appears in the results ( can also screenshot it if its easier)
Send this RLOG ID to the following email contactcommunity@ebay.com
I will pick it up from there and send it on to tech. Make sure to include your username on the email and what browser you used.
Any other users on this thread that can send their RLOG please do and send it to the same email.

- This error happens 80/90% of the time when submitting changes on multi variant listings from the ‘edit’ view of an item on the final 'submit' to confirm changes. It doesn't effect nested changes (e.g. drilling into variants and adding new variants within this page) just the final 'submit' once you're done.
- It also gets 'server error' when you go to the ‘manage variants’ page of an item and try to edit price OR quantity. Again, on rare occasions it will work but 80-90% of the time it doesn’t. Additionally, doing this repeatedly is triggering a '250 edit limit' and locking you out for 24hrs so it isn't a workaround.
- It’s happening on both OLD and NEW listings (since the error started). It's only happening (or I've only spotted it happening) on multi-buy items.
This is happening cross device, cross browser. With no cookies, with cookies, fresh cookies, incognito. You can replicate the error easily on any of the affected accounts.
It's impossible to add inventory because you don't know when you're going to get an error, so you can spend 30 minutes editing 20 variants of a listing just to lose all the changes when you try to commit them. Right now, it means my store is stalled and I'm unable to add new inventory (and I have 1000's to add).

·1 month agoJust been onto CS by phone (again) still blaming everything by themselves, said a ticket was raised (I did this at beginning of week) she said it depends on when the technical dept actually see this ticket as to when it will get fixed. Did the usual cookies etc bit told them it was already done on Monday and that quite a few sellers were having this problem and we are all losing money because of it and it should be a priority as Ebay is now taking money from sellers and NOT providing the service that is being paid for. She simply repeated bit about tech dept will get round to it and could take 5-10 days. WHAT A F-ING JOKE THIS SITE IS NOW.
