Shopper can't see my other items
Summary: pillarboxred raised a query about why a shopper could only see one of four listed dinner plates on eBay, suspecting an AI issue. papso22 suggested checking visibility when not logged in, while jonatjonatjonat indicated that viewing items generally requires manual searching. 4_bathrooms confirmed that the visibility problem might resolve when viewing listings from an incognito window. Finally, rainbowtrax explained that the visibility issue was due to eBay's duplicate listing policy, where only one auction-listing without bids is visible at a time until it receives a bid.
I've had an enquiry as to whether I have more of a dinner plate. I have four listed but the shopper can only see the one when clicking on "see other items". Why? Does EBay AI think it is being clever?

·2 weeks ago@pillarboxred the reason they didn't show but do now is due to ebay's duplicate listing policy. When they had no bids, only one auction listing would show. As soon as that got a bid then another one becomes visible etc. So as each one was bid on then the next became visible until you could see all four. This is the relevant part of the policy:
"For auction-style listings, you can have multiple identical listings if they have the same start price, reserve price, title, and description, do not use Buy It Now, and only one without bids is visible at a time."

OP2 weeks agoThey were Buy It Now listings of plates people usually buy as replacements. They are not identical items: they are used plates and the photos are of the plate in the listing you are looking at. The person who has now bid had messaged me to ask if I had any more. To me this is eBay failing to serve the consumer, wasting their time making an unnecessary enquiry.

·2 weeks agoAre your customers in the UK? I sold my first sale to a customer to the US, the second highest bidder asked me to make another one, but he could not buy from a new listing or second chance offer, US was not listed as a location I post to despite everything OK (through global shipping), then the other day he sent me a best offer on my listing and US is back as a place ebay ships to!

jonatjonatjonat
·1 month agoWhat does AI have to do with anything? If someone clicks on see other items it just takes you to a list view of all the items you have listed. They’d still have to find the other products from that list.

OP2 weeks agoOh well, it looks like I am going to hear from you again. It's just that you always seem to take eBay's part even when users have concerns and complaints which eBay really needs so learn about.
jonatjonatjonat
·2 weeks agoI don't always, I am critical of ebay - but what exactly do you expect here? There's no AI involved and the four plates were there - as shown by the link below. But clicking View Other Items will do just that - show a list of all your available items.
if that isn't the answer you are looking for - and you want something else to happen when the customer clicks View All Items - then do explain.

Which item is it?
pillarboxred
OP2 weeks agoIt is the four Habitat dinner plates in the Memphis style. I've moved them from BIN to Auction.

·2 weeks agoDuplicate listing policy perhaps - for the BIN items.

OP2 weeks agoGood though, but how do we sell items individually which are not warehoused packaged stock? These are individual "used" plates and the photos are of the example in the listing.

·2 weeks agoI can see them no problem.
The problem you describe often happens when you're signed into your own account. If you view all items from a private/incognito window whilst not signed in you will see what everyone else can see. If you can't see them whilst signed into your account that is "normal" but everyone else should be able to see them.

·2 weeks agoIf it was to do with Duplicate listing policy, then they can all be seen now, as they have since been relisted as auctions and all have bids.
