ParcelForce Delivery to GSP Centre Gone Missing

Summary: andy_birch shared an issue with a large parcel of magazines sent through Parcelforce, which was tracked to a distribution center but then went missing. cobwebcottage suggested waiting to see if the hub confirms delivery, while ett1954 shared a similar experience and recommended filing a claim for a lost package. m.j.rodgers advised making a claim with Parcelforce to either locate the parcel or get confirmation of delivery, which would then be covered by GSP.

I sent out a large parcel (23kg) of magazines to the GSP Centre on the 29th June using Parcelforces Express 48 service. The tracking sowed it was received on the 29th at the Leicester Dist. Centre but then nothing until the 5th July where it had made it to the Coventry Dist. Centre.

Spoken to Parcelforce CS today and they said it has probably been delivered but not scanned as it would be part of a large trailer.

I explained that the onward GSP tracking had not kicked in so i don't think that's the case and he said he would check up for me. I'm not holding my breath.

Where do I stand? Parcelforce are saying it's delivered but I'm assuming GSP will say they haven't received it and i'll have to refund the £250 to the buyer.

Thanks for everyone's help and advice. I had an email last night to say the parcel had passed through the GSP centre, so all is good. Big relief.

Make a claim against PF. They'll find it or give your written confirmation that it has been delivered. If it has been delivered then you are back with GSP who will cover the loss.

I had the same happen to me with a consignment of books to China a few months ago. Also sent through Royal Mail's Click and Drop site via Parcelforce. The tracking stayed at my local Mail Centre for several weeks with no movement.

I wasn't unduly worried as this was a regular buyer and we both knew that books do take some time to clear Chinese customs due to the restrictions of printed material entering the country - bibles are banned etc.

After around 6 weeks I got a mail delivery back to me in a large blue plastic bag. Inside was my box (approximately 7 kilos) which had been carefully cut open along the side and returned to me via the address on the packing notes inside the box. The outer printed stamp (which would have had my sender's address) was completely obliterated as was the A4 size customs label on the reverse side of the box. There was no explanation or any documentation from Royal Mail or Parcelforce with the returned box.

I spoke to Royal Mail C.S. about this and they simply said the mail centre is automated and sometimes packages get damaged! On entering an online claim for a postage refund (the cost was around £54.00) it was immediately rejected as being out of time. After a couple of telephone calls and emails with customer services they were adamant I wasn't entitled to any recompense. I then requested the required information from Royal Mail so I could take my complaint to the independent arbiter whereupon Royal Mail immediately refunded my postage costs in the form of a cheque. Any other compensation was refused.

@andy_birch On the basis of the above, and to save a lot of hassle and time, I would advise you to immediately put in a claim for a lost package with Royal Mail.

Leave it for now and just keep an eye on the tracking. Sometimes it takes a few weeks for the hub to confirm delivery. Once they do, you are covered anyway.
