I've had a couple of listings removed recently for "attempting to sell outside eBay"
Well, that's not something I have ever done or would ever do.
My crime - I have a line in my listings that tells people to follow my Facebook account. Isn't that something we're supposed to do to enhance sales? To make eBay more money?
To make things worse, I have been scheduled for retraining. They've enrolled me in the eBay Policy Education Programme (whatever that is - maybe they should enroll their customer service staff on it) .
Apparently someone will be calling me. That should be an interesting conversation.

·1 week agoIf ebay put a little more effort into explaining their policies properly they'd not have to have an Education Programme at all.
But taking part might not be might not be such a bad thing if they tell you which policies they're enforcing rigorously, which ones you have some leeway to partially ignore and which ones they don't bother to enforce at all. Ebay's attitude towards policy enforcement seems to shift according to convenience, what costs them money and what makes them money.

·1 week agoThe way ebay would see it, if you link out to your facebook account - you can conduct off ebay sales, making ebay less money. Which is a perfectly valid way of seeing it - as given half the chance - people would try to do that.

·1 week agoOn a presentation once eBay were explaining the primary imagery requirements (only show the product on sale, ideally on a white background, no text or logos) and the examples of ideal primary images used on the next slide had the usual UK STOCK, brand logo in the corner.
In some instances it is hard to see what policies are being broken and which they turn a blind eye to

I had to do some retraining, back in the day, for mi-selling. I forget the exact thing, but it was something like using 'new' in the title to sell a preloved NEW LOOK jacket :-)
It was just a series of online videos followed by Q&As. Time-consuming but not overly difficult although they threw in a few curve balls to check I hadn't left my toddler to answer the questions...

·1 week agoYou are not allowed 3rd party links on your listings. If you want to interlink your facebook do it correctly. Goto your seller hub under marketing click social and link it correctly.
