I can't pass the biometric identification required to upload my drafts, please help!
Summary: belovedinteriorsandantiques is experiencing difficulties with biometric identification on eBay, preventing them from uploading drafts. They attempted an alternative method using bank statements but encountered a system error stating they must use biometric verification. eBay support advised waiting periods and trying other devices, but these did not resolve the issue. 4_bathrooms asked about uploaded photo ID, while fargvs suggested updating settings on a PC with UK banking details.
I can't pass the biometric identification required to upload my drafts. I see the option to not use biometric verification at all, and actually to upload photos of my bank statements. This is convenient for me, however when I try to proceed with this option I am stuck with a error notification that states I have already began biometric identification process, therefore I cannot go back and verify my identity without using biometric identification.
Ebay support are unable to assist me really, besides suggesting that I wait 48 hours or try to do it on another device. Both did not work. I was then told that I must wait 30 days from now and perhaps it will reset.
How can I skip past this restriction red banner, or get through it.. without having the physical ID card needed to show the camera? I have scans of my photo ID , and bank statements also.
Last resort here as support have no further advice for me :(

·3 weeks agoHave you already uploaded your photo ID as part of the verification process (passport or driving licence)?

OP3 weeks agoI did it privately twice with support through a link, but I had not uploaded it as the verification prompted requires me to hold up the physical card (which I only have a digital scan copy of).

·3 weeks agoWhen many financial institutions request a "biometric identification" they usually require a picture of you that clearly shows your face whilst holding up the document that shows your photo ID so the two faces can be matched. A scan of the photo ID alone is not sufficient as you could simply be providing a scan of someone else's ID; i.e. a person you could be trying to impersonate. I've seen several financial service providers who require this as part of their "know your customer" checks for the purposes of their Anti-Money Laundering Regulations obligations - I wasn't aware eBay had started employing biometric checks themselves.
Is there a reason you have a scan of the passport/driving licence but you do not physically possess the document itself in order to take such a picture? It sounds like you indicated you did have such a document during the initial verification process so are now committed to the biometric identification path.
