GSP returns
So...not been using GSP a great length of time. Just had a return for a faulty item. Now, I always thought GSP dealt with returns, but I have the same old terrible choice of linking my DHL account? (German) Uploading a return label (from Germany), Confirming i sent a label OR confirming i provided a different way to get it back.
Any ideas? Refund and get on with my day, then be thankful when E-bay change me on to their new International post offering?

·1 month agoOkay - so I have been doing this for a while.
I confirm I have provided a different way to get it back and respectfully ask the buyer to get a postage quote which I offer to pay for ahead of the return. I make clear that I prefer to lose money on returns and learn from my error than just refund.
An example:
So sorry you have had problems with your item. Please get a postage quote and I will send the money via paypal. I am so sorry for your inconvenience but I prefer to inspect an item for myself (and thereby learn from my mistake) and it also stops fraudulent buyers who claim INAD on every item and spoil ebay for all of us. Rest assured I will refund all of your money on receipt of a faulty item. Best wishes again, x
This is putting the buyer under pressure. A lot get cold feet. If they do get a postage quote, you can double back and say 'how much???!!!' - I have refunded - sorry for your inconvenience.'
Of course it risks a neg - but I havent had one yet - scammers dont like to leave negs it makes it harder for them in the future.
I hope this helps.

·1 month agoEbay CS told me you couldn’t but then told me when US tariffs came into force I could use buyers anonymised ebay email address to send invoices for the tariffs to buyers which isn’t possible under ebay rules because ebay are not getting there cut from the payment.

·1 month agoGSP has never dealt with INAD returns; the seller has always been wholly responsible for arranging return and/or a refund.
Something else to consider is that unless the buyer specifically indicates the consignment is a "return of goods" on the return customs declaration you might be charged import VAT, customs duty and a handling charge if the value is over £135.00.

·1 month agoGSP is brilliant - until you get an INAD. Then it becomes a nightmare.
Weigh up the cost of the item the cost and hassle of the return and if you do believe that you missed the fault, and it might be more beneficial to just refund and get on with your day.

OP1 month ago90% of my 'faulty', returns are down to other issues so it is very likely a fully working item. Sale value is £23 though and with the system about to change with E-bays new service I'm tempted to just take it on the nose. Always the issue with international post on low value items, the risk of loss on postage is more than the expected gain from the sale in the first place. Thanks for the input, i'm leaning towards doing just this.

·1 month agoThe bonus is that you only have to refund the domestic postage by using GSP.
