Ebay despatched date error
Summary: pslandroveruk raised concerns about eBay incorrectly recording despatch dates, leading to issues with late delivery rates. Many participants, including nutrafituk and c_of_e84, shared similar experiences, stating that eBay's system does not acknowledge the actual carrier tracking timeline, impacting their seller ratings. custom-giftsuk detailed logistical challenges, while firstgardencity suggested a workaround involving direct communication with eBay using receipts as proof of timely dispatch. There is a shared sentiment of frustration among sellers, who feel unsupported by eBay despite being loyal business users.
Hello,
I am posting to see whether other business sellers have experienced an issue with eBay recording an incorrect despatch date from carrier tracking.
Over 100s of orders, the despatch date displayed by eBay is one or two days later than the date shown in the tracking history. This is causing orders to be marked as “Posted after dispatch time” and counted against our late-delivery rate.
We have contacted customer support and submitted appeals, but the responses simply treat eBay’s recorded despatch date as final. The agents do not appear to compare it against the actual carrier tracking timeline, even when the contradictory information is visible on the order.
One of example for the appeal rejected reason as below. Posted date is 26 August on royalmail tracking number but ebay's response was 27 August as below.
https://www.royalmail.com/track-your-item#/tracking-results/FP253854837GB
After reviewing the details, we found that tracking FP253854837GB shows the item was both posted late and delivered late:
Order date: 25 Aug 2026
Latest handling date: 26 Aug 2026
Posted date: 27 Aug 2026
Latest estimated delivery date: 27 Aug 2026
Delivered date: 29 Aug 2026

·1 month ago · EditedIt has been happening to me for a long time and I have now finally lost my TRS for the first time for many years.
My business mail gets collected in sealed sacks every day Monday to Friday but more often than not does not get the acceptance scan until the next day (always used to be the same day)
I had been phoning eBay every month to get the defects removed 95 at a time) and they always used to be very helpful, however I was told 2 months ago a policy change at eBay resulted in them no longer being able to remove the defects. Appeals have failed and now they do not even respond to any of my messages on the subject. A complete brick wall and I have now given up trying. I feel totally let down by eBay.
What a great way to treat loyal business sellers that actually operate on business accounts and paying fees to eBay and their shareholders !
Incidentally my Amazon orders go off in the same sacks as my eBay orders and my account health on Amazon is unaffected !

·1 month agoI am getting this all the time now. Have spent hours talking to RM who say its not an issue, and they cant address anything as the contract for postage bought through ebay is between ebay and RM and they cant discuss anything.
Our mail (Glasgow) is now being routed to Warrington where it receives its first scan days later and then another scan in the area where the item is posted to and then the final delivery scan.
It's killing us because ebay are marking everything as late dispatch because the first scan is Warrington.
A good example. One item posted, took 3 days to get to Warrington from Glasgow. Scanned in Warrington - a distance of 215 or so miles. Sent on to the regional hub, which was Glasgow, so another 215 miles back, scanned in Glasgow, then sent to for delivery in Bellshill, 12 miles from where it started. A well over 400 mile journey taking 8 days to travel 12 miles from us to the recipient.
But even showing ebay the tracking, just point blank refused to understand that its not our issue.

·1 month agoEbay wont even accept a scan from the PDA by the postman on my doorstep or the email I get from royal mail 30 seconds later to say they have the item.

·1 month agoThis happens all the time - I don't have any late deliveries shown but this is only because every month I am on the phone to eBay as soon as the "late delivery" list is available. I know its a waste of time but if you don't do it these mistakes mount up. Presumably you have a receipt from the Post Office when you handed them the item and from the Evri shop. If your 100% sure you posted within your time limits phone eBay explain to them and ask them to send you a message asking for a photo of the postage receipt. Photo the receipt and send it to them so that within 48 - 72 hours the late delivery is removed. Sometimes the agent will say they cannot send a message asking for proof but stand your ground and they will send it. I would not recommend using the online request to remove a late delivery as the answer will be no and you will have to phone anyway.

·1 month agoThis works for me. Having to ring eBay all the time with post office receipts sounds like a lot of wasted time.
I appreciate sellers who do volume can’t use lockers like the above but for smaller sellers it makes life a lot easier with untracked items. It also means the buyer isn’t in limbo wondering if the item has actually been posted.

·1 month agoLooking at the Royal Mail tracking for that item thre problem is that there is no 'Accepted at Parcelshop' scan and the first 'Item received' scan isn't until the 27th. The 'Sender has despatched item' entry is created when you generate the label so doesn't count.

·1 month agoHappening to me on my business account as well, item packed and dispatched a day early, postman collects the item scans it at my door, get email from royal mail to say they have it in there possession, then I get late dispatch defects because ebay say it doesn’t count until the item is scanned at a hub, for me that’s royal mail at London Heathrow airport which can be two days after it was collected from me, I appealed and lost then appealed the decision and lost.
Just another way of forcing you to use ebay shipping and put your fees up.

·1 month agoIt happens to me, using Royal Mail Tracked 48 and they tell the customer expected delivery the next day.
Your case also shows just what a scam this all is, and it is eBay who are misleading the customer, then they try to blame you and mark you down for late delivery.
People have been complaing about this for years and eBay have done F'all to rectify it.

·1 month agoThe problem you have is no scan on the 26th. Anyone who knows anything about Royal Mail tracking knows you must have posted it on the 26th for the 27th scan to make sense but eBay just tick boxes and the first box they can tick is the scan on the 27th.

·1 month agoThey do not care, we are in the same boat. We have taken legal actions against Royal Mail - the only way to get anywhere. After months of dealing with CS , all sort of departments and their legal team, clearly no other option.
