On 15 February 2016, the European Commission launches a new online dispute resolution (ODR) platform as part of its Digital Single Market initiative. Online dispute resolution is an alternative dispute resolution (ADR) process conducted online.
The ODR platform provides additional protection to cross-border buyers, allowing them to submit a complaint online to a relevant, registered ADR provider with the aim of resolving the dispute. It includes a translation feature aid cross-border communication.
Both buyers and sellers will benefit from having access to a regulated platform where they can settle their disputes out of court in a simple, fast and low-cost way.
