Question Genuine charity listing in Buying on eBay DND

Hi there,

I've seen an item I'm interested in being auctioned by a private seller "for charity". Is there any way of telling whether the proceeds are genuinely going to the charity or just the seller's own pocket?

Any help appreciated 🙂

If the item has the charity symbol on the listing the seller must be donating a percentage of the sale price to an approved charity. The amount will be auto deducted from final sale price

Thank you for your reply. It all looks genuine enough but someone I know has dealt with the seller before and warned me that her charity auctions are usually suspect so I just want to be sure.....

If you have reliable evidence do not bid on the listing, save it for a genuine charitable cause

As said, if the charity logo is on the listing the seller has selected to donate to the charity...minimum amount is 10% or 1% with eBay motors....sellers are invoiced monthly.
But
Sellers need not select the option every time they sell
In what way was the charity auction “ usually suspect”? That’s quite a bold accusation to make...
